Role: Operations Intern
Location: Kolkata (In Office)
Duration: 6 months
Type: Full-time, Paid Internship
Working Hours: Aligned with UK working hours
About the Role
We are looking for an Operations Intern to support inbound sales conversations, prospecting, lead qualification, and pipeline management. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility. You will manage inbound enquiries, understand and qualify potential customers, follow up with prospects, book meetings, and ensure leads move through the pipeline without being overlooked. You will also help identify new business opportunities and maintain accurate prospect and CRM data. The role is particularly suited to someone who communicates clearly in writing, is highly organised, and wants practical exposure to B2B sales, lead generation, account management, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound Sales & Lead Management
Manage and respond to inbound sales enquiries professionally and promptly.
Understand what prospects are looking for and qualify leads based on factors such as fit, budget, timing, and decision-making authority.
Handle follow-up conversations, including pricing questions, objections, and prospects who become inactive and later re-engage.
Book qualified meetings and prepare clear handover notes so the relevant team has the context required for each conversation.
Track commitments, follow-ups, and next steps to ensure no opportunity is missed.
Escalate conversations that require senior input before responding externally.
Lead Generation & Pipeline Management
Source new business opportunities using lead generation and prospecting platforms.
Research and identify prospects that match the target customer profile.
Build, verify, clean, and maintain prospect lists, ensuring accurate data and avoiding duplicates.
Prioritise promising opportunities and move them into the sales pipeline quickly.
Follow up consistently with prospects while maintaining a professional approach.
Keep CRM records accurate and up to date.
Track which leads are progressing, converting, or stalling.
Prepare short weekly updates covering new leads, pipeline movement, and outstanding opportunities.
Skills & Requirements
Essential
Previous experience using a CRM or email outreach/sending tool.
Exposure to B2B sales cycles.
Familiarity with lead generation, prospecting, or sales intelligence platforms.
Previous experience with prospect research, email outreach, or account management is an advantage.
Strong written English and the ability to communicate professionally over email.
Ability to understand a prospect's message and identify what they actually need or are asking for.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly around follow-ups and lead tracking.
Comfortable taking ownership and being accountable for assigned leads and conversations.
Good judgement about when to handle something independently and when to ask for guidance.
Proactive approach to following up and keeping opportunities moving.
At least one previous internship, ideally within sales, business development, account management, or a related area.
Key Skills
CRM | Email Outreach | B2B Sales | Lead Generation | Prospecting | Lead Qualification | Account Management | Business Development | Pipeline Management | Written Communication
What You'll Learn
This internship will provide practical experience working with real prospects and sales opportunities rather than purely observational training. You'll develop your professional writing and sales communication, learn how to qualify and nurture B2B leads, understand how a sales pipeline is managed, and gain hands-on experience with CRM and prospecting processes.
Strong performance during the six-month internship may also lead to an opportunity for a full-time position.
How to Apply
Apply with your CV along with a short covering message.
As part of the application, please answer the following in 3–4 lines:A prospect responds to your outreach saying they are interested, but they are currently working with another provider and suggest reconnecting next quarter. How would you respond?
We will use your response to assess your written communication, judgement, and approach to handling prospective customers.
