What you’ll do

• Build the career assessment backbone: attempt lifecycle (create/resume/submit), timing metadata, partial attempts, idempotent APIs.
• Implement deterministic scoring pipelines with versioning and audit trails (what changed, when, why).
• Own Postgres data modeling: schemas, constraints, migrations, indexes, query performance.
• Create safe, structured GenAI context payloads (controlled vocabulary, safety flags, eval datasets) to power parent/student narratives.
• Raise reliability: tests for edge cases, monitoring, reprocessing/recalculation jobs, safe logging (no PII leakage).

Must-have skills

• Backend development in Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask) or Node (NestJS) with production API experience.
• Strong SQL + PostgreSQL fundamentals (transactions, indexes, schema design, migrations).
• Testing discipline: unit + integration tests for logic-heavy code; systematic debugging approach.
• Comfort using AI coding copilots to speed up scaffolding/tests/refactors — while validating correctness.
• Ownership mindset: cares about correctness, data integrity, and reliability.

Good to have

• Experience with rule engines, scoring systems, or audit-heavy domains (fintech, healthcare, compliance).
• Event schemas/telemetry pipelines and observability basics.
• Exposure to RAG/embeddings/vector DBs or prompt evaluation harnesses.

Location: Pune (on-site for first 3 months; hybrid/WFH flexibility thereafter)

The Opportunity:

BeBetta is building the future of fan engagement. To do this, we need a backend that can handle millions of concurrent users making real-time predictions during live events. This requires a shift in our technology towards systems built for massive scale and low latency.

That’s where you come in. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead our transition to a Go-based microservices architecture. You will be the driving force behind our most critical systems—the prediction engine, the rewards ledger, the real-time data pipelines. While our roots are in Node.js, our future is in Go, and you will be instrumental in building that future.

• Architect our core backend in Golang: You will design and build the services that are the backbone of the BeBetta experience, ensuring they are blazingly fast and incredibly reliable.

What You'll Bring:

• A track record of building and deploying high-performance backend systems in Golang.
• Senior-level experience (4+ years) in system design, microservices, and API development.
• Pragmatic experience with Node.js and an understanding of how to manage and migrate a monolithic or service-based system.
• Deep knowledge of database principles (PostgreSQL preferred) and high-performance data access patterns (using tools like Redis).
• Expertise in modern infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, and a major cloud provider (GCP/AWS).
• A strong belief that testing, observability, and clean architecture are not optional.
• An innate curiosity and a passion for solving complex problems, whether they're in code or on a whiteboard.

Requirements:

• 3+ years’ experience under your belt developing performance-critical applications that run in a production environment using Node.Js
• Expertise in Database modeling, preferably relational DB, spotting DB bottlenecks, and writing optimized DB queries.
• Expertise in common Cloud technologies, AWS/GCP Knowledge of CI/CD tools and workflows.
• Knowledge in one or more of the following: NoSQL (especially, but not only Redis), Queueing system experience (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, MSMQ)
• Good stakeholder management skills, with an ability to build trust and rapport with internal and external stakeholders
• It is good to have knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker and related deployment technologies.

What we are looking for

• At-least 3 years of experience of development on backend applications. Full stack experience is a cherry on the top!
• Experience / knowledge of designing robust systems, maintaining & scaling them
• Experience with usage of NoSQL databases like MongoDB & with SQL and RDBMS Systems
• Experience of creating applications with any of the popular frameworks in Python, Java, GoLang, Node
• Experience with JS frontend frameworks like React, Angular, Vue etc is a big plus
• Well versed with versioning systems like git
• Understanding of rest API implementation

Requirements:

• Minimum of two years of experience in building web applications using ASP.NET MVC and .NET platform in general.
• Should have strong UI development skills using HTML, CSS/JavaScript frameworks.-
