Node JS Lead

About the role as a full stack engineer at Torum, you will be remotely working alongside our core development team from India, Turkey, Malaysia and other regions in the future. A good mindset of forward planning should be cultivated to better your performance!

You will also get involved in constant discussions with our Lead Developer and Operational team members regarding the ideas, concepts as well as feature specifications to further enhance our platform.

Qualifications and Experience location GMT+8 or GMT+5:30

• Ability to work remotely or on-site (if Malaysia)
• More than 3 years of experience with Node JS (Express framework)
• Hands-on experience with front-end framework is a bonus (React JS/Angular JS /Vue JS)
• More than 3 years of experience with experience with MongoDB
• Experience in leading, or being a Senior in the backend team to build, constantly improve and optimize a commercial level product, with a decent user base
• Passion for best design, developing and coding practices
• Creating servers and databases for functionality
• Maximizing application performance, uptime, and scalability, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful application design
• Excellent debugging and optimization skills
• Unit/integration testing experience

The primary responsibilities include:

• Provide a strong understanding of native mobile developer platforms and bring broad thought leadership to the next generation mobile developer experience.
• Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent products and programs from delivering on product and program objectives.
• Balance urgent and effective action, commitment to excellence, and taking the initiative to resolve problems; holds internal stakeholders accountable where appropriate.

REQUIRED

• 8+ years of industry experience with 2+ years of senior leadership experience.
• Solid track record of over-achieving engineering and platform delivery and scaling targets in high volume, innovative and fast-paced high-pressure environment; proven results in delivery on platform product.
• Deep understanding of one or more of Java/Python/Scala. Ability to understand and critique the core library/language constructs with skilled knowledge on UI technologies like Angular 2+, React, D3.JS
• Working experience with Agile methodologies and durable team concepts.
• Knowledge in DevOps practices and tools.
• Knowledge in Cloud Technologies, CI/CD, Jenkins, Testing methodologies is preferred.
• Experience in server-side services using ElasticSearch, Kafka
• A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects and bringing in and growing engineering talent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.

• Relevant Experience : Minimum 2 Years
• You have prior experience developing and working on consumer facing web/app products
• Hands-on experience on Python. Exceptions can be made if you’re really good on any other language with experience on building web/app based tech products
• Experience in at least one of the following frameworks - Django, Flask, Falcon, web2py, Twisted, Tornado
• Working knowledge of MySQL, MongoDB, Redis
• Good understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms and Operating Systems
• You've worked with core AWS services in the past and have experience with EC2, ELB, AutoScaling, CloudFront, S3
• You can dabble in Frontend codebases using HTML, CSS and Javascript
