• Hands-on coding experience required – actively contribute to coding and technical design decisions.
• Tech stack: Java, Spring, microservices, cloud technologies, and building large-scale systems.

Ideal Candidate

• Strong Client-Facing Engineering Manager Profile
• Must have 8+ years of engineering experience, with substantial exposure to back-end development, scalable distributed systems, and modern web services
• Must have 2+ years of experience in people and delivery leadership, owning engineering execution and leading teams to deliver complex products
• Must have proven experience working directly with external stakeholders / clients, translating client requirements into engineering plans and delivering solutions with high customer impact
• Strong technical foundation with experience in backend engineering, REST APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and building reliable, high-performance systems
• Strong problem-solving and design capabilities; experience with system design, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices
• Must have expertise in agile methodologies and project management tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• (Cross-Functional Collaboration): Must be skilled in working with product, design, sales, and client teams to drive requirements, delivery, and client success
• (Execution & Delivery): Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end delivery, coordinate releases, prioritise effectively, and deliver results in time

• (Stability): Must have stayed for at least 2 years with each of the previous companies
• (Education): B.Tech in computer science, engineering or a related field from Tier 1, Tier 2 colleges (Master's preferred)

• New features developed independently with the ability to document the design after understanding and evaluating the requirements with necessary groundwork on required application components
• Hands-on coding to implement the design for feature completion
• Able to write unit tests that ensures bug free code
• Able to handle the multi-tenant and performance requirements of the new features and applications.
• Integrate the new features with existing modules, deliver ready to use code meeting necessary build requirements and CI/CD requirements.
• Work with other functional groups for product, technology, QA, tech support and deployment team.

The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications.

• BE/B.Tech Degree from a reputed institution with at least 7 years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with Core Java, J2EE with a good knowledge of its ecosystem
• Experience with JUnit, JMH like performance tuning test tools preferred
• REST API design and development experience. Usage of Swagger or other API spec tools would be preferred. Working knowledge on Spring Boot is a plus
• Hands-on experience with some of the following application components is a plus: Solr, Kafka, OpenTSDB, Elasticsearch, Janus graph or any graph DB.
• Experience with databases such as MongoDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL required.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and build tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI, Maven, Ant required
• Experience building applications using microservices architecture is highly preferred. Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker would be ideal
• Working knowledge on public clouds like AWS or Google cloud or Azure is a plus
• Experience building scalable systems
• Strong problem solving skills and ability and interest to solve complex problems
• Interest in machine learning (ML) data science is a plus

Type: Individual contributor with good hands on proficiency. 

Must have

• Strong proficiency in at least one of  Java, Ruby, Python
• Exposure to databases: any of  PostgreSQL, MySQL, Apache Cassandra
• Any NoSQL database experience is a plus
• Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure: EC2 or S3 
• Proficiency with Git
• MUST: Using REST to make API calls. 

Great to have: 

• Experience working with one or more middleware, enterprise bus, queueing frameworks
• Any of Memcached/Redis, Apache Kafka / RabbitMQ / PubSub+ / AmazonMQ

Soft skills:

• Appreciation for clean and well documented code

What will you do at Tradyl:

• Build a shipping service module that is called by our website to query shipping rates from India to a destination country. Configure this to so that an Ops person can update shipping costs as and when they change. Own deployment and monitoring of this service. 
• Use Zapier to build a workflow to export a MixPanel report into a Google sheet every day.
• Change our supplier portal (built on bubble.io) to make an API call to our customer facing site, whenever a supplier modifies his profile.
• Write an alert mechanism that identifies catalogues with insufficient information and makes them non discoverable, which can run every day.
• Work with Business Team to design a workflow for product inwarding using Airtable. Write a small app within Airtable so that whenever a product is updated as “shipped” in airtable, it updates the customer facing website.
• Use an open source dashboarding framework to create a quick dashboard to track important business events. 

• Experience in open source technologies - Solr, Redis, Kafka
• Exposure to building & managing applications in Amazon Webservices (AWS)
• Experience in security, scalability & performance aspects of solution
