Job Title : Senior Software Engineer – Frontend

Work Location : Bangalore (Hybrid – 3 days WFO)

Work Timings : 11 AM to 8 PM IST

Interview Process :

Round 1 : Geektrust Online Technical Interview (1 hour)

Round 2 : Online Interview with Toorak Capital Indian Team (1 hour)

Round 3 : Online Interview with Toorak Capital U.S. Team (30 minutes)

Round 4 : Face-to-Face Interview with the Toorak Team in Bangalore (Mandatory)

Core Requirements :

• 6 to 10 Years of experience as a Web Developer or similar role.

Proficiency in :

• React.js, HTML & CSS, JavaScript / TypeScript, Webpack, Micro-frontend architecture, Backend for Frontend (BFF) architectural pattern.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
• Excellent debugging, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.

Preferred Skills :

• Experience with Node.js.
• Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and deploying applications.
• Experience with GCP services and Jenkins for build processes.
• Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and libraries for web analytics.

Responsibilities :

• Develop cloud-based web applications using React.js, HTML, and CSS.
• Collaborate with UX designers to create and refine prototypes, ensuring an excellent user experience.
• Work closely with backend engineers to ensure seamless integration.
• Implement and optimize micro-frontend architecture.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time.
• Implement build processes using Jenkins and deploy applications to CDNs.

• Angular and Angular JS, Able to work Architecture, Design and Development ofComplex UI Screens
• OOP fundamentals (Encapsulation, Abstraction, Inheritance, Polymorphism), MVC architecture
• UML (Class/Sequence diagrams)
• Design Patterns (Should be able to explain some common design patterns)
• Versioning (CVS, VSS, Git etc. – why is it used?, check-in/check-out, merging, how to resolve conflicts?, etc.)
• JDBC (Statement types, Obtaining connection, ResultSet, Drivers)
• Hibernate/JPA , DB (PK, FK, Normalization), SQL (Insert/Update/Delete/select queries)
• CSS (Styles, Classes)
• SDLC (What is it?, benefits, etc.)
• Robust Programming, Debugging (Common IDE features and their use)
• Analytical skills – ability to look at a problem with different perspectives: define solutions understanding the pros and cons of each

The Engineering team at Whatfix provides end-to-end engineering throughput that forms part of core platforms and services that drive Whatfix's business.

Our team is responsible for creating the Customer Platform and everything around it - be it Analytics, Infrastructure, or Core Algorithms. The team owns and is responsible for all pieces that we design, build and support end to end for Whatfix product/ business.

Our product is built around a core of JAVA with enterprise businesses using the Whatfix system. On a monthly basis, millions of interactive guides are processed. Building, testing, and deploying to any of our environments are as simple as pushing a commit to a git branch. We like to keep our technology up-to-date. All of the technology is built and maintained by this small development team, so from day 1, the software you write will be used by people from all over the world.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and develop highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant systems for one of the world’s fastest-growing startups
• Work with business to define requirements
• Perform technical design and hands-on coding for development and enhancement efforts
• Develop new user-facing features
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end services
• Promote best practices in design and coding
• Conduct design and code reviews
• Understand the customer needs & implement
• Articulate complex problems communicating viable architecture and design approaches in a clear and concise manner
• Enhance the agile SDLC within the Development Team through new learning, continued growth, and applying industry best practices and processes
• Occasionally participate in customer demos & provide inputs wherever required
• Keep optimizing & automating mundane tasks

Individual growth is important to us. We schedule time every week to explore an interest or learn something new. Team members have also used it to do everything from learning new algorithms to playing with the new framework, to exploring what the new analytics layer could be used for. We also take some time each day to discuss what we're working on, and even pair programs to teach each other about parts of the codebase. There's no risk of stagnation in this job, you would still be hands-on after a few years.

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for a Front-End Engineer to help us scale and go deep on our technical capabilities.

• 4 -12 years of professional front-end development experience
• Hands-on experience with Front end technologies - JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS
• Experience with React Ecosystem (React Router, Styled-components, Server-side rendering, Context API, React Hooks) is strongly preferred
• Experience with state management libraries such as Redux is a huge plus.
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues
• Experience in backend programming languages such as Java is strongly preferred 
• Experience in building Web applications using frameworks like Spring, Microservice architecture
• Work experience, preferably from internet companies, products, or startups
• Expertise in design principles and their application
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

What You’ll Do

• Should be able to develop an application with vanilla Javascript without any frameworks.
• Maintain reusable code and improve code quality.
• Optimize application for maximum speed.
• Should take ownership and work closely with other teams. such as back-end.

• Be comfortable working throughout the lifespan of a project.

Who you are

• Should have minimum 5+ years of experience.
• Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 and vanilla JavaScript.
• Should have good knowledge on ES6.
• Understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
• Should be proficient any of the the frameworks  ReactJs, VueJs etc.
• Should have knowledge on Node Js.
• Should have hands on experience web component development.
• Good understanding of Responsive Web Designing, CSS media queries and Bootstrap library.
• Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
• Good understanding of asynchronous/Ajax request handling.
• Good understanding of OOJS.
• Knowledge of code versioning tools, such as GIT.
• Knowledge in writing UI test cases using any test framework.

Education

• Bachelor's  degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent demonstrable experience.
