You will be part of the Site Reliability Engineering Team. This role involves the design, scale, performance tuning, monitoring, and administration activities on the various databases (majority on MySQL).
Your day-to-day at Egnyte:
- Build, scale, and administer a large fleet of MySQL servers spread over multiple data centers with a focus on performance, scale, and high availability.
- Monitor and troubleshoot critical performance bottlenecks for MySQL databases before it causes downtime.
- Review and assess the impact of database schema design, topology changes prior to their implementation
- Ensure that databases are secured, maintained, backed up, and highly available.
- Review stress testing results and provide recommendations to development teams
- Automate anomaly detection to surface databases with failures, IOPS, deadlocks, and other failure reasons.
- Automate management tasks, streamline processes, and perform standard administrative functions
About you:
- Understanding of MySQL’s (5.7+) underlying storage engines
- Knowledge of Performance and scalability issues with MySQL
- Strong experience with MySQL HA using Orchestrator/ProxySQL/Consul/Pacemaker
- Experience with configuration management like Puppet/Ansible
- Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
- Automation experience with ‘Python/Ruby/Perl’ and ‘SQL’ scripting
- Analytical skills necessary to perform troubleshooting of errors and performance issues on a large array of Mysql cluster spread over multiple data centers.
Due to the nature of the role, it would be nice if you have also:
- Experience in other distributed systems like Redis, Elasticsearch, Memcached.
- Experience in managing a large fleet of database servers.
- Knowledge of HA and scalability issues with PostgreSQL
Qualifications & skills:
- C#.net, ASP.net MVC, Microsoft sql server, LINQ, Entity framework, .net Core.
- Repository / version management tools such as GIT, SVN, TFS.
- Diploma / bachelor degree / master degree in computer science or subjects related to computer software programming.
- Demonstrated knowledge of web technologies, such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively. Being a team player is more preferred.
- Ability to understand and work on requirements.
- Flexible in work and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary.

JD:
AWS: 7-10 years experience with using a broad range of AWS technologies (e.g. EC2, RDS, ELB, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch) to develop and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions, with emphasis on best practice cloud security.
DevOps:
Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime AWS environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools.
Strong scripting skills and automation skills.
Expertise in Linux system administration.
Beneficial to have
- Basic DB administration experience (MySQL)
- Working knowledge of some of the major open-source web containers & servers like apache, tomcat and Nginx.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Deploying, automating, maintaining and managing AWS cloud-based production system, to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of production systems.
- Build, release and configuration management of production systems.
- System troubleshooting and problem-solving across platform and application domains.
- Ensuring critical system security using best-in-class cloud security solutions.
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps including automated system configuration, application deployment, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Advanced Linux system administration abilities.
- Real-world experience managing large-scale AWS or GCP environments. Multi-account management a plus.
- Experience with managing production environments on AWS or GCP.
- Solid understanding CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, CircleCI/Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory/Nexus.
- Experience on any configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet or Chef is a must.
- Experience in any one of the scripting languages: Shell, Python, etc.
- Experience in containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes/EKS/GKE is a must.
- Solid understanding of SSL and DNS.
- Experience on deploying and running any open-source monitoring/graphing solution like Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
