About the Role:

We are looking for a seasoned Java Developer with 6+ years of experience to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and cloud-based deployment using AWS or DevOps tools. This is a hybrid role based out of our Whitefield, Bangalore location.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in agile development processes and scrum ceremonies.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
• Design and develop applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
• Ensure robust and reliable code through full-scale unit testing and TDD/BDD practices.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline setup and cloud deployments.
• Work independently and as an individual contributor on complex features.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.

Mandatory Skills:

• Strong Core Java and Spring Boot expertise.
• Proficiency in AWS or DevOps (Docker & Kubernetes).
• Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases (SQL, NoSQL).
• Sound understanding of Microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
• Containerization experience using Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
• Exposure to modern SDLC tools – Maven, Git, Jenkins, etc.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployment.

About the Backend Engineer role

Responsibilities (not exhaustive)

• Design, write and deliver highly scalable, reliable and fault tolerant systems with minimal guidance 
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
• Partner with the product management team to define and execute the feature roadmap
• Translate business requirements into scalable and extensible design
• Proactively manage stakeholder communication related to deliverables, risks, changes and dependencies
• Coordinate with cross functional teams (Mobile, DevOps, Data, UX, QA etc.) on planning and execution
• Continuously improve code quality, product execution, and customer delight
• Willingness to learn new languages and methodologies

The Ideal Candidate

Education

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in commercial software development in large distributed systems

Experience

• Hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing and deploying applications on Golang, Ruby,Python, .Net Core or Java for large scale applications
• Deep knowledge of Linux as a production environment
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and asynchronous architectures
• Expert in at least 1 of the following languages: Golang, Python, Ruby, Java, C, C++
• Proficient in OOP, including design patterns. 
• Ability to design and implement low latency RESTful services
• Hands-on coder who has built backend services that handle high volume traffic.
• Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
• Possess excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills, able to think critically of the current system in terms of growth and stability
• Data modeling experience in both Relational and NoSQL databases
• Continuously refactor applications to ensure high-quality design
• Ability to plan, prioritize, estimate and execute releases with good degree of predictability
• Ability to scope, review and refine user stories for technical completeness and to alleviate dependency risks

The role:

Our engineering team is growing and we are looking to bring on board a senior software engineer who can help us transition to the next phase of the company. As we roll out our platform to customers, you will be pivotal in refining our system architecture, ensuring the various tech stacks play well with each other, and smoothening the DevOps process.

On the platform, we use Python (ML-related jobs), Golang (core infrastructure), and NodeJS (user-facing). The platform is 100% cloud-native and we use Envoy as a proxy (eventually will lead to service-mesh architecture).

Responsibilities

• Be the bridge between engineering and product teams. Understand long-term product roadmap and architect a system design that will scale with our plans.
• Take ownership of converting product insights into detailed engineering requirements. Break these down into smaller tasks and work with the team to plan and execute sprints.
• Author high-quality, highly-performance, and unit-tested code running on a distributed environment using containers.
• Continually evaluate and improve DevOps processes for a cloud-native codebase.

Qualifications

Work Experience

• 5+ years of industry experience (3+ years in a senior engineering role) preferably with some exposure in leading remote development teams in the past.
• Proven track record building large-scale, high-throughput, low-latency production systems with at least 3+ years working with customers, architecting solutions, and delivering end-to-end products.
• Fluency in writing production-grade Go or Python in a microservice architecture with containers/VMs for over 5+ years.
• 2+ years of DevOps experience (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm and public cloud APIs)
• Worked with relational (SQL) as well as non-relational databases (Mongo or Couch) in a production environment.
• (Bonus: worked with big data in data lakes/warehouses).
• (Bonus: built an end-to-end ML pipeline)

Skills

• Strong documentation skills. As a remote team, we heavily rely on elaborate documentation for everything we are working on.
• Ability to motivate, mentor, and lead others (we have a flat team structure, but the team would rely upon you to make important decisions)
