Job Description Back-End Developer, Portfolio Management System Dedicated Engagement — Hurricane Capital Role Snapshot Engagement: Dedicated resource, employed/contracted through Transient.AI, invoiced to Hurricane Capital. 100% committed to Hurricane's work — not shared across accounts. Level: Mid-Level back-end developer (not junior, not principal). Location: Remote. Onshore or offshore, but must work U.S. East Coast hours. Type: Full-time, dedicated. Start: As soon as possible. MVP target: end of year. Works with: Rob and Rehan (Hurricane), plus Transient-side engineering for code review. The Work Hurricane Capital is building a portfolio management system from the ground up. This is fully Greenfield — the infrastructure does not exist yet, so you are building it, not maintaining someone else's. The immediate focus is Bloomberg connectivity and the Python back-end that market data flows through. You will be a dedicated engineer for Hurricane, working alongside Rob and Rehan in real time. Because the codebase lives on the Transient side and is reviewed before merge, you will also coordinate directly with Transient engineering. What You'll Own ● Build back-end services and APIs in Python from scratch for the portfolio management system. ● Implement and troubleshoot Bloomberg API connectivity for market data ingestion. ● Design and maintain the data layer — Postgres and SQL, with Snowflake as the cloud data warehouse. ● Work with Azure cloud infrastructure as the system requires. ● Collaborate live over Teams during East Coast hours to co-work and troubleshoot with Rob and Rehan. ● Coordinate with Transient engineering on code review and merges into the shared codebase. What Good Looks Like ● A working MVP of the portfolio management system is delivered by end of year, built in parallel with existing workstreams. ● Bloomberg connectivity is completed and stable, with market data flowing reliably through the Python APIs. ● Hurricane's work moves in real time — no waiting on cross-account turnaround, because this capacity is dedicated. ● Code clears Transient-side review cleanly, with trust established during hiring so there is no gating delay. Must Have ● Strong Python for back-end and API development. ● Hands-on Bloomberg API experience. ● Ability to work U.S. East Coast hours consistently (non-negotiable — daily live collaboration depends on it). ● Database experience: SQL and Postgres. Strong Plus ● Snowflake (cloud data warehouse). ● Azure cloud experience. ● JavaScript. ● Familiarity with capital markets or market data products. Nice for Later The MVP does not require AI/ML work. Over time the system is expected to move in that direction, so appetite to learn and grow into AI-enabled features is a genuine plus — and part of what makes this role interesting. Golang Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Golang.
• Build and enhance REST APIs, gRPC services, and microservice-based applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code while ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust cloud-native solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Golang.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and OOP/functional programming concepts.
• Experience with REST APIs, gRPC, and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and benchmarking.
• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS.

Good to Have

• Experience building high-performance distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-native development and container orchestration.

Strong Senior Backend Engineer profiles

Mandatory (Experience 1) – Must have 5+ years of hands-on Backend Engineering experience building scalable, production-grade systems

Mandatory (Experience 2) – Must have strong backend development experience using one or more frameworks (FastAPI / Django (Python), Spring (Java), Express (Node.js).

Mandatory (Experience 3) – Must have deep understanding of relevant libraries, tools, and best practices within the chosen backend framework

Mandatory (Experience 4) – Must have strong experience with databases, including SQL and NoSQL, along with efficient data modeling and performance optimization

Mandatory (Experience 5) – Must have experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and backend systems, including system design and clean code practices

Mandatory (Domain) – Experience with financial systems, billing platforms, or fintech applications is highly preferred (fintech background is a strong plus)

Mandatory (Company) – Must have worked in product companies / startups, preferably Series A to Series D

Mandatory (Education) – Candidates from Tier - 1 engineering institutes (IITs, BITS, are highly preferred)

Senior / Python Developer

We are looking for a Senior / Python Developers to join our engineering team and help us develop and maintain various software products. Your responsibilities include understanding the product very well, and lead the integration of this product into architecture.

To be successful in this role, you should have strong technical knowledge and solid experience of all steps of the software engineering process and the tools associated with those. You should be a go-getter, a clear communicator and a strong collaborator who works well in a team as well as the customer. You should want to do high quality work and produce output that you are proud of.  

• Good understanding of Python especially should have used file/directory access, data persistence, compression and archiving, cryptographic services, concurrent operations, networking and IPC, developmental tools etc.
• Good understanding of key differences in Python 2 vs 3
• Knowledge of lib2to3, six, python-future libraries. Compatibility idioms provided by these libs and their limitations, issues in using them as is.
• Knowledge of Python3 changes in data types especially str, bytes in Py3 vs str, unicode in Py2. Should be able to gauge, understand impact of this on data in transit/data at rest in a large project.
• Knowledge of using C extensions in Python code, modifying to run with Python3, Python 2-3 compatibility.
• Experience working with large python codebase.
• Working knowledge of mysql, Python ORM like sqlobject.
• Working knowledge of Common third party modules like cherrypy, falcon, gunicorn, etc.
