Backend Engineer - PYTHON

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Django and Python.

• Architect and implement microservices-based solutions for scalability and maintainability.

• Work with PostgreSQL and Redis for efficient data storage and caching.

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and ensure robust API design principles.

• Implement system design best practices for high availability and fault tolerance.

• Containerize applications using Docker and manage deployments with Kubernetes.

• Integrate with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) for hosting and infrastructure management.

• Apply security best practices to protect data and application integrity.

• Collaborate with frontend, QA, and DevOps teams for seamless delivery.

• Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews to maintain quality standards. 

Required Skills & Expertise

• Django/Python – Advanced proficiency in backend development.

Microservices Architecture – Strong understanding of distributed systems.

• PostgreSQL & Redis – Expertise in relational and in-memory databases.

• Docker/Kubernetes – Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration.

• API Design & System Design – Ability to design scalable and secure systems.

• Cloud (AWS/Azure) – Practical experience with cloud services and deployments.

• Security Best Practices – Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and data protection.

Founder & Team

The founder is Shariq Plasticwala. He is a graduate of IIT Bombay & Stanford GSB. He was part of the founding team of Amazon India where he played a key role for over 8 years. Among his roles at Amazon, he was the CEO of Amazon’s first joint venture in India and a Board Member of Amazon’s payments business. The other members of the founding team consisted of senior executives from Shiamak Davar & Byju’s.

Background

•   At least 6+ years experience in back-end development in a fast-paced environment, working in Python & Django Framework
• Should Have experience leading a team.
•   Deep understanding of technologies used in web products, including Rest APIs
•   Sound understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
•   Deep familiarity with UNIX, major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), DevOps.
•   Understanding of databases, and related tools, paradigms.

Opportunity

•   Developing APIs and endpoints for deployments of our product.
•   Infrastructure Development such as building databases, creating and maintaining automated jobs.
•   Build out the back-end to deploy and scale our product.

• Lead multiple client projects in the organization.

• Introduce & ensure right coding standards within the team and ensure that it is maintained in all the projects.

7+ Years of experience in developing large scale applications. 
Solid Domain Knowledge and experience with various Design Patterns & Data Modelling (Associations, OOPs Concepts etc.)
Should have exposure to multiple backend technologies, and databases - both relational and NOSQL databases
Should be aware of latest conventions for APIs
Preferred hands-on experience with GraphQL as well as REST API
Must be well-aware of the latest technological advancements for relevant platforms. 
Advanced Concepts of Databases - Views, Stored Procedures, Database Optimization - are a good to have.
Should have Research Oriented Approach 
Solid at Logical thinking and Problem solving 
Solid understanding of Coding Standards, Code Review processes and delivery of quality products 
Experience with various Tools used in Development, Tests & Deployments. 
Sound knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD Pipeline Tools 
Solid experience with Git Workflow on Enterprise projects and larger teams 
Should be good at documentation at project level and code level ; Should have good experience with Agile Methodology and process
Should have a good understanding of server side deployment, scalability, maintainability and handling server security problems.
Should have good understanding on Software UX 
Proficient with communication and good at making software architectural judgments

Job Description:

- The Lead Engineer is responsible for deriving the technical architecture, detailed design, implementation, Performance, and Scalability of the developed system.

- The individual should be capable of single-handedly understanding the requirement, liaison with the product owner and external teams; produce the technical output required.

- Strong Leadership skills to contradict, produce a new design to current trends is required.

- Should be an avid technology enthusiast with strong views on technical architecture.

Technical Skills:

1) Strong Python and Mongo DB is mandatory

2) Web Application Architecture - One Large Project Experience of Development & Maintenance

3) Knowledge in one or more frameworks like WSGI(uwsgi), Django, Flask, Web Application development

4) Exposure to Databases like MongoDB, BigQuery, Elastic Search, Redis, etc.,

5) Knowledge of Code Quality Process and Discipline (Git, Jenkins, etc)
