Some of the tech problems you get to work on as a backend engineer would be to build the backend for a modern spreadsheet experience from scratch, work on infra as code, write robust code that is fault-tolerant, work on performant code that adheres to SLOs set by the organization. 

About you:

● 3- 5 years of experience

● Expertise in the following areas ○ Java ○ HTTP Protocol

● You’ve heard of or worked with some of the following tech stacks/products

○ Spring

○ PostgreSQL

○ Redis ○ Docker

○ Message brokers

○ GitHub

● These non-functional areas are familiar to you

About the Role -

We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Java Engineer to drive the development of our B2B product suite. In this pivotal role, you will build robust, scalable, and intuitive applications that empower customers to seamlessly handle money movement transactions, including international payments. You will ensure technical excellence by advocating best practices, prioritizing security, enhancing development processes, and championing a quality-first mindset.

What You'll Do -

• Design and Development: Create robust, efficient, and scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

• API Development: Design, build, and maintain APIs for web and mobile applications.

• Performance and Security: Ensure application performance, scalability, and security best practices.

• Cloud Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud services into our backend infrastructure.

• Code Quality: Write high-quality, maintainable code that adheres to industry standards.

• Mentorship: Support junior and mid-level team members, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need -

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer.

• Experience showing strong problem-solving skills and a passion for creating user-centric solutions.

• Core Java proficiency. A strong command of the Java language, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, exception handling, and memory management.

• Spring Framework (including Spring Boot)- In-depth knowledge of Spring, especially Spring Boot for building efficient and scalable backend applications.

• Understanding of Spring components like controllers, services, repositories, and security.

• RESTful API Development: Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.

Bonus Points -

• Mastery over Java’s core APIs, such as collections, streams, and concurrency frameworks.

• Experience within a B2B fintech environment would be highly desirable

• Database-driven performance query optimization and Kafka messaging systems

Core Experience:

•Experience in Core Java, J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, Spring REST, Linux, JUnit, Maven, Design Patterns.

• Sound knowledge of RDBMS like MySQL/Postgres, including schema design.

• Exposure to Linux environment.

• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.

Secondary Skills:

• Comfortable working with a microservices architecture and familiarly with NoSql solutions.

• Experience in Test Driven Development.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Hands-on skills in configuration of popular build tools, like Maven and Gradle

• Good knowledge of testing frameworks such as JUnit.

• Good knowledge of coding standards, source code organization and packaging/deploying.

• Good knowledge of current and emerging technologies and trends.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, Development and Delivery of Java based enterprise-grade applications.

• Ensure best practices, quality and consistency within various design and development phases.

• Develop, test, implement and maintain application software working with established processes.

Work with QA and help them for test automation

• Work with Technical Writer and help them documenting the features you have developing.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s / master’s degree in computer science or information technology or related field

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in the Development of JAVA technology.

• Understanding AI/ML algorithms is a plus.

• 5+ years of software development experience in Java 8+ and Microservices.
• Experience in developing micro services. Experience in developing High Cohesion & Loosely Coupled Micro Services.
• Experienced in skills of requirement, analysis, design, develop, Java, springboot, microservices, rest api, AWS, lambda, EC2, Jenkins, design pattern, spring security, splunk, auth, docker, SOLID
• Hands on experience on Microservices Architecture.
• Should have excellent acumen in Data Structures, algorithms, problem-solving and Logical/Analytical skills. Thorough understanding of OOPS concepts, Design principles and implementation of different type of Design patterns.
• Experience with Multithreading, Concurrent Package and Concurrent APIs
• Basic understanding of Java Memory Management (JMM) including garbage collections concepts.
• Experience in RDBMS or NO SQL databases and writing SQL queries (Joins, group by, aggregate functions, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with Message Broker like Kafka/Rabbitmq or other. Hands-on experience in creating RESTful webservices and consuming web services. Hands-on experience with spring Cloud/Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with any of the logging frameworks (SLF4J/LogBack/Log4j)
• Experience of writing Junit test cases using Mockito / Powermock frameworks. Should have practical experience with Maven/Gradle and knowledge of version control systems like Git/SVN etc.
• Hands on experience on Cloud deployment/development like AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with global teams to define and deliver on projects. Sound understanding/experience in software development process, test-driven development.

Job Description

• Design & implement backend APIs 
• Mentor junior developers technically.
• Actively work to reduce tech debt in the backend
• Work towards more stability & scalability of the backend
• Tech stack - Java, AWS, Aurora etc. 

Eligibility

• 4-8 years of product company experience
• OOP implementation experience. Programming language does not matter. We use Java internally but have hired folks from non Java background.
• Hands on experience in SQL, Dynamo DB, Postgres etc preferred. 
• Prior experience building REST APIs
• Advanced understanding of AWS stack
• Prior knowledge of solving problems at scale.
