What we are looking for: Backend Lead Engineer

As a Backend Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical vision and execution of our product development team. You will lead a team of talented engineers, mentor their growth, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership:

o Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team backend engineers.

o Mentor and develop engineers to enhance their skills and capabilities.

o Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define

product requirements and technical solutions.

• Development:

o Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend applications.

o Optimize application performance and scalability for large-scale deployment

o Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code that adheres to best practices.

o Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in web development.

• Project Management:

o Lead and manage software development projects from inception to deployment.

o Estimate project timelines, assign tasks, and track progress.

o Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.

• Problem-Solving:

o Identify and troubleshoot technical issues.

o Develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

• Architecture Design:

o Design and implement scalable and maintainable software architectures.

o Ensure the security, performance, and reliability of our systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 6+ years of experience in backend software development.

• Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.

• Strong proficiency in backend technologies (Python, Node.js, Java).

• Experience with GCP and deployment at scale.

• Familiarity with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL).

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.

• Experience with microservices architecture.

• Contributions to open-source projects.

Leverage your expertise in Python to design and implement distributed systems for web scraping, ensuring robust data extraction from diverse web sources.

• Develop and optimize scalable, self-healing scraping frameworks, integrated with AI tools for intelligent automation of the data collection process.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to ensure high availability and performance of distributed web scraping systems.

• Work with large-scale NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) to store and query scraped data efficiently.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research and implement innovative AI-driven solutions for data extraction and automation.

• Ensure data integrity and security while interacting with various web sources.

Required Skills: • Extensive experience with Python and web frameworks like Flask, FastAPI, or Django.

• Experience with AI tools and machine learning libraries to enhance and automate scraping processes

. • Solid understanding of building and maintaining distributed systems, with hands-on experience in parallel programming (multithreading, asynchronous, multiprocessing).

• Working knowledge of asynchronous queue systems like Redis, Celery, RabbitMQ, etc., to handle distributed scraping tasks.

• Proven experience with web mining, scraping tools(e.g., Scrapy, BeautifulSoup, Selenium), and handling dynamic content.

• Proficiency in working with NoSQL data storage systems like MongoDB, including querying and handling large datasets.

• Knowledge of working with variousfront-end technologies and how various websites are built

• Experience in Node.js Frameworks
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript, Socket IO, ExpressJS & SailsJS
• Experience working with third-party developer tools, including documentation, APIs, and SDKs
• Good Grasp of Asynchronous Programming and Its Workarounds
• Database Schema design for Business Processes
• Working Knowledge of JWT-based passport Authentication
• Can Write and Refactor Efficient Codes

What you will be working on: 

• Key contributor for developing product strategies and features. 
• Software development for industries leading SaaS platform 
• You will be involved closely in planning, designing, integration of client requirements. 

• You will be working with one of the leaders in data resiliency and data protection. 

Here are some technical skills require:  

• Independently own features and create feature test plans/strategies based on development and feature completion milestones.   
• Identify quality assurance process bottlenecks and suggest actions for improvement.   

• Design automation framework for automating feature tests.   
• Participate in test cases, test plans, s and code reviews.  
• Resolve functional queries coming from other business units such as support, escalation, product management, etc.   
• Participate in bug trailing, tracking quality assurance metrics.  
• Hands-on experience with Python-Selenium or Cypress, will be preferred.   

• Familiarity with Test Management systems like XRay and bug tracker like JIRA tools.  

What we expect from you:    

• 3-10 Years of relevant experience in QA Automation.   
• Expert at test automation, creating test plans, test strategies for testing multiple product modules   

• Should be able to quickly analyze failures and trace back to issues in the product or the automation suite.  
• As a Software Development Engineer in Test you should be an expert at test automation for APIs as well as UI, creating test plans and test strategies for testing product features.  
• You will guide and mentor junior team members by reviewing their automation code and test cases to ensure good coverage and quality of a feature  
• Resolve functional queries coming from other business units such as support, escalation, product management, etc.  
• Be a quick learner and be open to working on new technologies if needed.    

• Excellent team player with strong verbal & written communication skills.    
• Be able to step up when the situation demands such as meeting deadlines and critical production issues.    
• Propose changes or enhancements to the framework for enabling new feature tests.

• Working knowledge of Dockers and Kubernetes will be an advantage   
• Awareness of general manual and automation concepts and all types of testing methods

Our core customer-facing product today is a native Android application. In addition to this, we are building internal tools for customer support, investment management, marketing analytics and business management. In the future, we plan to hugely expand the features in our core product, build iOS and web products, and continuously improve our internal tools to better serve our customers.

For our back-end, we use Node.js / MySQL / AWS. We are currently a 3-member engineering team (1 back-end, 1 Android, 1 full stack) led by our founding engineer and advised by a senior technology executive from a leading fintech company.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve our software applications
• Build reusable libraries and frameworks that support complex web applications
• Set-up our technology infrastructure and integrate with 3rd party applications
• Contribute to internal discussions around product features, roadmap and technologies used
• Mentor & recruit engineers to the team
• Set up processes related to engineering & product

Skills / Required Experience:

• B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent, with solid foundational knowledge in at least two general programming languages, data structures, algorithms, system architecture, security and networking protocols.
• At least 6 years of back-end development experience in a software product company is required for this role.
• Exposure to modern software development processes, multiple front-end and back-end technologies, and open-source software.
• Proficiency with tools like Gitlab/Jira/Firebase, as well as AWS and commonly used database systems etc. is required
• Experience in an early-stage startup or having founded your own startup would be good to have (but not necessary).

• Collaborating with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience.
• Own code for the products with responsibilities including but not limited to designing, developing, testing, maintenance of products.
• Building RESTful services and do DevOps.
• Talking to customers and business teams to suggest improvement areas in product flows.
• Create peer learnings for team members and build context for new teammates
• Help with building the company's tech team and iterating on the hiring framework.
• Provide regular feedback to your team (peers and managers) to ensure continuous improvement.
• Keeping abreast with the latest technologies and working on your skills regularly.

Skills & Requirements

• Good knowledge and experience of working with backend systems; designing server-side architecture, including production maintenance experience are must-haves.
• At least 1-8 years of experience in any programming languages like Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, and Node.js(Node.js preferred).
• Understanding of micro-services-oriented architecture.
• Experience with Databases design (SQL, NoSQL) and analytics
• Experience in driving and delivering complex features/software modules from technical design to launch.
• Expertise with unit testing & Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Have empathy for the users you build for
