Job Title: Senior Android Developer (Java/Kotlin)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Developer with extensive experience in building robust, scalable, and high-performance mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Android development using Java and Kotlin, strong problem-solving abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced Android applications for mobile devices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Integrate mobile applications with backend systems using RESTful APIs.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and fix bugs, optimize performance, and improve application scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in Android development.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in Android development using Java and Kotlin.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with Kotlin.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of the Android platform and Android SDK across multiple OS versions.
• Proficiency in consuming RESTful web services and API integration.
• Solid knowledge of Android UI/UX principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Experience with popular Android libraries and open-source frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with build tools such as Gradle or Maven.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Espresso, or Robolectric.
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Experience testing across multiple devices, screen sizes, and configurations.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and static code analysis.

Performance & Optimization

• Experience in handling local data storage solutions.
• Strong understanding of multithreading and performance tuning.
• Ability to optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.

Tools & Technologies

• Version control systems such as Git.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or similar lifecycle management tools.
• Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.

Position Overview:

As an Android Developer, you will have the exciting opportunity to work on developing, testing, and maintaining Android applications that deliver exceptional user experiences. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in transforming ideas into functional and user-friendly applications that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

● Participate in the entire application development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing and deployment.

● Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following coding standards and best practices.

● Continuously research and stay up-to-date with the latest Android development trends, tools, and technologies.

● Assist in maintaining code repositories and version control using tools like Git.

● Collaborate with UI/UX designers to ensure seamless integration of design elements and optimal user experience.

Qualifications:

●     Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

●     Strong passion for mobile app development and a genuine interest in the Android platform.

●     Solid understanding of Java and/or Kotlin programming languages.

●     Basic knowledge of Android application architecture and components (Activities, Fragments, Services, etc.).

●     Familiarity with development tools and frameworks such as Android Studio and Gradle.

●     Adept problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.

●     Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

●     Prior experience with personal or academic Android projects is a plus.

●     Knowledge of UI/UX principles and design patterns is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for our native Android and iOS mobile apps.
• Be flexible and knowledgeable so that you can switch between the two platforms as and when needed.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UI designers, and other technical development resources
• Turn design ideas into features implementation that scale to millions of users by working closely with other mobile and backend engineers
• Develop unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and test coverage
• Ability to work independently solving technical problems

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Computer Science or related degree from an accredited college or university
• You have at least 5 years of experience in developing native mobile applications with Java and/or Kotlin (for Android) and Objective-C and/or Swift (iOS) while working within a team environment.
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK as well as iOS SDK – app lifecycle, UI using XML layouts (Android) and constraints and dynamic sizing (iOS) as well as data management and caching
• Knowledge of build systems in Android using Gradle. Knowledge of cocoapods and other tools for iOS build systems
• Knowledge of change management systems such as Git
• Knowledge of Reactive programming
• You’re familiar with mobile product and design lifecycle, and collaborating closely with designers and product managers
• You have experience building and shipping mobile apps to a large user base.
• You write high quality code with unit and automated tests.
• You’re comfortable with identifying and fixing performance bottlenecks.
• Experience integrating backend REST API’s.
• Experience in Agile/SCRUM and Unit Testing, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development
• Strong understanding of object oriented design principles

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge scripting tools and build tools.
