No jargon or hassle, only a whole world of flexibility and convenience - like you've never known in Insurance. Be it small insurance packs for your day to day possessions, topical health hazards or protecting you and your family for life, Toffee does all the heavy lifting in easy monthly payments. It's practically the only insurance plan you'll ever need.
- Toffee Insurance wants to insure a billion lives by using product, design and technology-led innovations. Contextual products that are accessible, affordable, easy to understand, and backed by a brilliant user experience could reduce a significant financial risk for a majority of Indians.
- This vision has to be enabled and delivered through great design. If you share this belief and have the confidence to lead the design team here to achieve this vision, then we would love to talk to you.
- There is already a small design team in place that has helped achieve an end to end experience that gives a glimpse of the future of insurance. You need to take this as a starting point to something that becomes a new norm in the near future.
- Our vision is to be the first insurance brand that a person interacts with proactively. This can only happen through great design leadership.
Some thoughts on your role :
- We really do not care about your education and your years of experience.
- What really matters is that you have proven your passion through your career arc thus far.
- Were you able to evolve a product from merely an idea or a hypothesis, and persisted through multiple iterations of the design to achieve a product-market fit or whatever success metric you decided at the onset?
- We are ultimately a customer experience company. So, you will be the primary voice of product design inside and outside the company, sharing its work, evangelizing its success, articulating its vision and values.
- You may have to blog and speak at conferences and interact with customers directly at all times.
- Your design instincts, process and mentorship ability of a small team will be tested through face to face interactions with Rohan (our CEO) and Nishant (Head of Product).
Specific Mandates :
- Proven history of creating useful and usable products.
- Passionate about impacting the lives of users in emerging markets.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to design for platforms such as desktop and mobile, Android and iOS.
- Communicate effectively in a cross-functional product development team and present ideas and designs effectively, oral and written.
- Obsession with end-users - who they are and how they use the product to craft the best possible experience for them.
- Able to function independently and in a team environment with solid collaboration skills.
- Knows the art of negotiation to arrive at a balanced view of what is and is not a priority from a business and technical point-of-view.
We think we have a great working environment :
- After all, we helped to create it. You will be surrounded by smart, creative professionals.
- The pace of our days is generally steady but will be punctuated by some bursts of effort as a time to market dictate.
And finally, this is our hiring process :
- Preliminary screening of the candidates will be done using the resume and portfolio.
- A phone interview will be followed by onsite interviews at our Gurgaon office.
- The salary will have a competitive base component along with a percentage of ESOPs as appropriate.

About the company
About the company:
CoverForce is a high growth InsurTech startup. We have two goals:
- Build a PolicyBazaar style website to be used by insurance agents in the US for business insurance. Agents will be able to get quotes, compare them, bind them (convert to policy) and pay for them. Currently no website exists with Quote/Bind/Pay. Few exists but they are quote only. Our unique proposition enabled insurance companies to grant us Bind access. Can delve deeper into why and how too.
- Convert the API powering our website into a Public facing API. This will enable corporates like Walmart, Gusto (payroll software), Lyft etc to start selling insurance to their customer base easily. We already have inbound requests from Walmart and Lyft. Think of Plaid for business insurance. This will also enable other agency management systems to build a quote/bind/pay feature into their software.
At the end of the day we want to be the centralized pipe to access all business insurance across multiple carriers. Whether that is through our website or API directly we don’t care. Just that we are the centralized pipes. Similar to Plaid for banking.
Some Highlights:
We have access to 5 of the top 10 insurance carriers in the US. This is something no other company has.
We recently raised a $5m seed round at a $27m valuation. Our investors include NYCA Partners, QED, a Google Gradient partner, Sr mgmt from Uber and the co-founder of Plaid (William Hockey)
