The Opportunity - Collaborate with the Founder to build a comprehensive vision and product roadmap - Build out the architecture, team, technology stack and platform - Set the tone, best practices, and overall strategy for technical operations – from coding, project management, documentation, architecture, and scaling – and rigidly adhere to their implementation, adjusting as needed - Own & report on technology related metrics, always looking for a way to improve our users’ experiences - Identify and incorporate growing trends and best practices in technology, evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms - Lead strategic planning to achieve goals within timelines by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timeframes for development and deployment - Recruit, hire and lead a high quality technology team, with close collaboration and communication with a top notch data science team - Recommend technologies that support company organizational needs internally - Maintain a governance process that meets government, partner, and company expectations for information privacy - Communicate the company’s technology strategy to investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders - Develop and manage a multi-year technology roadmap, ensuring the deployment of architectural solutions that are secure, scalable, comprehensive and maintainable - Assist the CEO with fundraising and strategy, Product & Operations Leads with feature roadmapping The Individual - We are looking for a candidate with the following skills, experience and attributes: - Must have been involved with multiple startups (some successful and others a learning experience) - Must be a hands-on entrepreneurial CTO, who has worked at least one high profile startup - Strong network to recruit from within (India and/or overseas) - Experience in leading the full cycle of web and mobile application development processes, from design to implementation - Experience with Python development and object-oriented design - Experience building web applications using MVC frameworks (Django is a plus) - Extensive knowledge of and experience with SMS, USSD or other protocols for mobile communication standards, particularly GSM - B.S. or Masters in computer engineering or related discipline, from reputed university - A natural leader - Loves the intensity, chaos and passion of start-ups, and wants to work with a fun-loving team who truly enjoy working together to realize a shared dream - Team player who is takes ownership of work, is detail and deadline oriented, with a strong work ethic Compensation & Logistics This is a full-time opportunity. Total compensation package will be in line with startup market rates; negotiable based on qualifications and experience. If brought on as VP of Engineering, then will have the option to move into CTO role with good performance. The position is based in Mumbai, India, and the candidate must live in Mumbai or be willing to relocate.
