About the Role
As a Principal Engineer at EquityList, you’ll own and drive the engineering direction of the company. You’ll work with an existing team of 4 strong full-stack engineers, writing production code while setting the technical bar across architecture, scalability, and reliability.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll partner closely with the CEO and product leadership to turn business priorities into well-designed systems, guide major technical decisions, and ensure we move fast without breaking fundamentals.
If you enjoy building critical systems, mentoring capable engineers, and taking responsibility for how an organization engineers at scale — this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Hands-On Coding (50%): Own full-stack epics/features end-to-end (React/Node/Postgres stack) from ideation to production.
- Technical Leadership (20%): Guide architecture decisions, system design, DevOps (CI/CD, GCP, Kubernetes), and infosec (auth, encryption, SOC2 basics).
- Mentoring & Code Quality (15%): Conduct code reviews for 80%+ of PRs, pair-program with juniors/mids, run tech syncs to the upskill team.
- Hiring & Team Building (5%): Screen candidates, lead technical interviews, contribute to scaling the team.
- Product Strategy (10%): Collaborate with CEO/Product Manager on roadmap prioritization, effort estimation, and refinement.
What We Want
- 8-12 years full-stack experience; prior Series A/B startup exposure essential.
- Expertise: Modern JS stack (React/Next.js, Node/Express), databases (Postgres), cloud infra, DevOps tools.
- Proven mentoring: Helped juniors grow; comfortable with mixed-skill teams.
- Soft skills: Startup hustle, CEO collaboration, clear communication.
- Indian startup ecosystem knowledge is a plus.
- Bonus: ESOP/compliance domain familiarity, Principal/Staff Engineer background.
Why Work With Us ?
At EquityList, you don't just join a team; you help build the infrastructure of innovation.
We move fast. We solve hard problems. We build with obsession — for our customers and each other. Here, autonomy is real and equity isn’t just a benefit — it’s belief in your leverage.

Backed by AngelList India, Hustle Fund, Republic, Unpopular Ventures, Mana Ventures, and a stellar group of angels, we’re redefining how companies manage ownership and compliance globally.
About the Role
This is a founding Product Manager role at EquityList, where you will own the end-to-end product thinking, from problem discovery and impact analysis to PRDs, execution, and adoption.
This is a hands-on, zero-to-one role designed for someone with 3–5 years of Product Management experience, who can balance strategy and execution, work directly with engineering and leadership, and stay deeply connected to customers and data.
Your success will be measured not just by what gets built, but by how well customers adopt, understand, and derive value from it.
What You’ll Do
1. Product Discovery & Research
- Engage directly with customers at a granular level to understand workflows, pain points, and behavioral patterns.
- Synthesize inputs from customers, sales, support, market trends, and competitors into clear problem statements.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to validate assumptions and prioritize opportunities.
2. Product Definition & Impact
- Own PRDs end-to-end, including user journeys, edge cases, success metrics, and behavioral analysis.
- Prototype features end-to-end or support early builds with AI-powered tools.
- Perform ROI and impact analysis for features — clearly articulating why something should be built and what outcome it should drive
- Ensure solutions are simple, intuitive, and adaptable for customers across stages and geographies.
3. Execution
- Work directly with engineering teams to translate product intent into execution — no heavy project-management layers.
- Be involved throughout the build cycle to debug issues, clarify trade-offs, and ensure product quality.
4. Adoption, Launch & Iteration
- Own and track success metrics post launch.
- Bring finesse to feature launches, including internal enablement, release notes, and customer communication.
- Continuously analyze post-launch data and feedback to refine and improve features.
What We’re Looking For -
Experience & Skillset -
- 3–5 years of experience in Product Management at a B2B / SaaS startup.
- Strong experience in PRDs, user flows, and behavioral analysis.
- High comfort with data analysis — ability to dig into usage data, identify patterns, and debug issues.
- Solid product design sensibility — you may not be a designer, but you deeply care about UX and usability.
Mindset & Traits
- High agency: you take ownership without waiting for instructions.
- Tech-savvy: able to meaningfully engage with engineers and understand technical constraints.
- Opinions backed by research: you combine qualitative insights with quantitative evidence before taking a stance.
- Strong debugging attitude — you enjoy getting to the root of problems, not just shipping features.
Why Join Us
- As a Product Manager, build the backbone that powers EquityList’s product and customer experience.
- Work directly with the CEO and leadership team.
- Influence product direction by being the closest voice to our customers.
- Join a fast-growing SaaS company solving a complex, global problem in equity management.
- Backed by leading investors and trusted by some of the most prominent startups across regions.
