We're looking for someone to join a team dedicated to building performant APIs and backend services that deal with large volumes of data for the company's flagship, global consumer product. Small, high-impact teams require conscious planning and decision-making when it comes to design, architecture, and product features. So, it's essential that you enjoy working in such an environment.

We're a team that cares about simplicity and being able to build reliable, deterministic systems and platforms. Hence, our choice of tooling is usually battle-tested reliable software with a robust test suite.

How we work

1. You won't deal with the hustle culture. We're focused on building well-thought-out, stable and reliable software and we try our best to ensure everyone understands the big picture and the immediate goals.
2. We work a solid 6-8 hour days and don't slave away 24/7.
3. We're a remote engineering team. This makes effective communication extremely important. Our teams have benefitted greatly from good written communication. This includes everything from the product specification to the API spec. We spend a lot of time writing READMEs. As a result our engineers work with greater clarity and planning.
4. We deploy several times a day and rely on a good test suite to ensure we're not making life hard for our colleagues.
5. We don't expect anyone to know everything, but we are curious and learn along the way.
6. We learn about the fitness space and what it means to really be fit and not just Instagram fit.

The Python Backend Engineer position may be a good fit for you if:

1. You have 3 (or more) years of experience building and maintaining cloud applications.
2. You have built APIs with Python, Flask, Django or FastAPI before.
3. You have experience working with relational databases like PostgresSQL or MySQL and have spent time writing SQL queries for large datasets.
4. Experience in writing Unit tests with pytest.
5. You have worked with Docker, docker-compose.
6. Familiarity with the AWS ECS stack.

Role & Responsibilities:

• You will own end to end testing and will set best practices in collaboration with the engineering manager.
• You will create necessary automation libraries and frameworks as per requirement and will build automation tests respectively.
• You will ensure health by putting the necessary checks and balances wherever appropriate.
• You are also responsible for driving meetings, new initiatives and innovation.
• You will participate in all day-to-day QA tasks.
• Research into new test/validation technologies/methodologies.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ship high-quality releases.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of SDETs and Sr SDETs.
• Encourage and drive initiatives which promote innovation and technical excellence.
• Constantly look for improvements in software development and testing processes.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Design and build advanced applications for the iOS platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Work with outside data sources and APIs
• Integrate features with wearables and other IoT devices
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

Education & Qualification Requirement:

• Bachelor of Engineering, preferably in Computer Science of Information Technology

Desired Skills and Experience:

• You have 3+ years of iOS app development experience using Swift.
• Published apps in the App store
• Have a good sense of how networked applications (Web services/REST APIs and JSON) work
• Well versed with server side syncing, database handling etc.
• Sharp analytical skills - find out edge cases both in code and usability/product.
• Ability to learn and adapt fast.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• 2+ years experience in any UNIX environment
• Experience implementing and maintaining unit tests
• Interest in privacy and the protection of personal information
• Good grasp of the fundamentals of UI layout designing, mobile UI components, using common themes and styles.
• Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, or an opinion on why they're overrated.
