JOB TITLE: Associate Visual Designer

LOCATION: Remote/Hybrid.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for a mid-level visual designer with expertise in Figma. You will help us in our internal and client projects. We highly value craft expertise, and we love to see strong product thinking as well.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Establish the look and feel for various interfaces, including websites, mobile devices, apps and any other devices
• Work within brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce a brand’s style or voice through its visual touch points
• Design user-centered interaction models, wireframes or screen mockups
• Design logos, icons and infographics
• Create and organize design assets
• Juggle multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations
• Deep understand of usability, accessibility and web standards
• Create and managing design systems
• Designing components, and tokens on Figma
• A keen eye for aesthetics & attention to detail
• Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
• Take in constructive feedback and produce quality work
• Work cross-functionally with engineering & design teams
• UX Experience is also a plus

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE GREAT IN THIS ROLE:

• A solid foundation in typography, layout and design
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Experience with transitions, motion design and dynamic interaction
• Excellent visual, written and verbal communication skills, along with presentation and negotiation skills

Your role will involve:

• Understands modern UI/UX design principles.
• Has experience designing for websites, mobile apps, and tablets.
• Is skilled in using Figma, our main design tool.
• Knows how to use graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Extra points if you have:

• Experience with specific design tools or methods we use.
• A portfolio showcasing your design work.
• A Bachelor's degree in Design Studies or a related field.

• Creating user-centric designs by understanding business requirements and user feedback 
• Creating user flows, wireframes and prototypes with tools such as Figma to showcase features 
• Collaborating with developers in seeing designs through to implementation 
• Incorporating customer feedback into design in order to enhance user experience 
• And lastly, showcasing UX and visual design work with strong design sense and articulated story telling 

Key Requirements: 

• 2+ years of experience as a UI/UX Designer  
• Portfolio of design projects 
• Understanding of design software like Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop 
• UX research skills - interviewing, observing, benchmarking, conducting surveys and understanding how to synthesize data to define actionable insights 
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders 

• Sketch early layout and interface concepts in collaboration with the UX Designer
• Understand and extend a visual language for interactive systems that hold up to the development process
• Creating designs with strong typography and iconography, as well as strong and unique branding
• Constructing clean and organized creative deliverables that adhere to style guidelines
• To work in the form of a creative team and become a positive addition to our company culture 

Requirements

• Some knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript
• Some formal design training
• Strong portfolio that reflects your experience with diverse designs demonstrating a passion for design 
• An understanding of interactive design
• An understanding of interactivity and the Web and the fundamentals of information architecture, hierarchy, and layout

• An eagerness to collaborate across disciplines with team members at all levels
• The ability to both work autonomously and as part of a team
• Able to effectively communicate and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure the visual design is communicating the desired message.
• Solid working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and familiarity with After Effects (in order to quickly animate designs) 
• Solid working knowledge of Figma. 

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of fundamental visual design disciplines (typography, iconography, composition, color, composition, layout) and UI Illustrations
• Design and guide the exploration of the range of possibilities for the aesthetic vision for the product
• Apply UX principles and user research data to build user interfaces and other user interactions that implement user workflows wireframes, and prototypes
• Use prototypes to communicate concepts and narratives
• Create designs with an information structure and navigation that anticipate user paths and logical process flows
• Actively engage with the product team, representing the Hubble design philosophy and advocating for the user
• Work closely with fellow designers and developers to understand and create designs

Desirable Education, Experience, and Capability

• B.Des/M.Des, BFA/MFA, BS/MS Degree; preference for Human-Computer Interaction, Design or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Required Criteria

• Experience working as a UI or UX designer with an in-house design team or at a Design agency
• Experience in creating or contributing to a design system, component library and UI illustrations
• Experience in creating motion design (in-app animation) in Adobe After Effects
• Advocate for and promote good user experience
• Knowledge of Lean UX methodologies and experience working in a collaborative, agile environment is a plus
• A portfolio that highlights your approach to problem solving coupled with your skills in visual and interaction design
• Strong written and verbal communication skill

• Craft is a given, and so is the willingness to execute production work
• You feel comfortable managing on-brand materials in ways that still push creative boundaries
• You’re willing to make things happen within tight constraints and tight timelines
• You can design original pieces, including infographics and journey maps
• You are comfortable reviewing junior designers’ work to ensure high quality and mentorship
• You inspire the team by being up-to-date with what’s new in the field of design, health, or impact
• You can effectively communicate with disciplines across the organization and are comfortable aligning your talents with theirs to build products and solutions together
• You have a genuine empathic curiosity in how to communicate with diverse audiences, particularly those with low literacy and living in rural settings
• You’re passionate about contributing to the intersection of social impact, visual communication, and human-centered design and always ask: who am I designing for?

MUST-HAVES

• Fluent in one Indian language (two languages is a significant plus)
• 3+ years of work experience in a similar role
• Bachelor’s degree in visual communication or a related field or equivalent
• Hands-on experience in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects (video editing skills are a significant plus)
• Highly motivated, proactive, and experience working with minimal supervision
• Experience working in creative, human-centered culture and cross-cultural design
• Attention to visual details
• Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with a team
• Excited to use your artistic talents in a social impact context

• Must be passionate about designing for web and social media
• Must have experience in Facebook & Google Ad Graphics
• Proven graphic designing experience
• A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
• Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Coreldraw and Photoshop)
• A keen eye for aesthetics and details
• Excellent communication skills, Must be quick in understanding and implementing ideas
• Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
• Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is a plus
