UX Designer

Role Description

India Accelerator is seeking a talented Product Designer (UI/UX) to join our team full-time in Gurugram for a hybrid role. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement user-centered designs for our learning platforms. They will be responsible for wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and the overall user interface design. Additionally, they will work closely with the product and engineering teams to ensure consistent and intuitive user experiences across all interfaces. Remote work accepted when necessary.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in designing web and mobile applications, with emphasis on user experience design
• Portfolio of compelling and intuitive designs which reflect a clear understanding of user-centric design processes
• Ability to translate concepts into wireframes and prototypes
• Expertise in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite
• Understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript is an asset
• Prior experience in edtech is a plus but not required
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's degree or higher, in Design, HCI, UX, or a related field.

3. Build wireframes and storyboards to conceptualize design
4. Define visual elements, product elements, and overall design
5. Taking design briefs to understand requirements
6. Effectively communicate your designs to developers and other key stakeholders
7. Create and implement interaction models and user interface specifications
8. Conduct industry research and stay up-to-date on best practices, competitor UI designs, and emerging technologies
9. Conduct, observe and analyze usability testing sessions
10. Conduct user testing of applications, software, and websites
11. Develop consistent, intuitive architectures
12. Support the QA team to make sure features are implemented in the coded version as intended
13. Determine timeline and deliverables
14. Evaluate and set best practices and standards
15. Work with UI managers and team to define user flows and sitemaps
16. Measure the human-computer interaction (HCI) element of a design
17. Collaborate on scenarios, end-to-end experiences, and screen designs
18. Work with frontend and backend developers as needed

But this is optional, especially if you are super talented in designing the purest and easiest solution to hard product design problems, and rallying your teammates to execute towards it.*
• You've experienced the pain of fragmented tools and information silos created by them, and have a strong urge to fix it.
• You’re familiar with the world of Open Source Software (OSS) and have been following the work of open source evangelists like Joseph Jacks (JJ), Javier Perez, etc and/or have dabbled in contributing design artifacts to various open source UI/UX projects.

• Craft every detail of new product features, from idea to UX to pixel-perfect execution.
• Run projects end to end with engineers to drive your vision to the ship line.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Content, and the Founders at Scoutflo to understand what each of our diverse user segments need, want, and love about Open Source. Use this data and acquired intuition to prioritize, plan, and scope our product roadmap.
• Work with Content Marketing to devise new ways to tell great stories throughout the user lifecycle, and across our site, product, help guides and other channels.
• Create new patterns that are intuitive, practical, and convergent. Evolve our design system intentionally as we scale.
  
  As one of our early founding designers, you’ll be working closely with the founders and other members of the founding team, to build our MvP product from scratch. You will be collaborating on multiple design problems with our product and engineering teams, to build the future of democratising Open Source! At Scoutflo, we aim to build a platform that will scale discovery and distribution of open source products by connecting them with businesses looking to leverage the power of open source. Designation: Lead - UI Designer (ABL_SS_481), Senior UI Developer (ABL_SS_433)

Position description:

• Design experiences for mobile and web.
• Perform the entire design cycle of assigned projects; i.e. understand objectives, ideate solutions, wireframe & prototype, create visual designs, and make iterative improvements.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the users from research and be their champion in all internal discussions.
• Instill form and function in your designs with thoughtful use of layout, color, gradient, type, icons, imagery, and interaction.
• Interface with developers to ensure that the final development matches your design vision.
• Create and manage style-guides for swift and consistent performance of the team.

Educational qualifications preferred

• Field specialization: Design and visual communication, Web Designing and Computer Graphics

Required Competencies:

• Designer competent in creating excellent mobile and web experiences. You have premier work to showcase in your portfolio.
• Believe in user-centric design and can justify your design decisions with sound logic and backing.
• Obsessed with being pixel-perfect and are well-versed with platform design guidelines (Material Design, iOS guidelines, etc).
• Possess good knowledge of usability, color, typography, iconography, and interaction design.
• Keen to interact with your users and optimize your design based on the principles of UX research.
• Able to design cross-platform experiences with clarity on what will work on desktop and mobile, and what will not. 
• Should have fluent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Required Skills:

• 5-8 years of experience in digital design for mobile and web.
• Competence in prevalent design tools (like Sketch/XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InVision/Zeplin)
• An elaborate and consolidated portfolio showcasing your work and skills.

• Creating user-centric designs by understanding business requirements and user feedback 
• Creating user flows, wireframes and prototypes with tools such as Figma to showcase features 
• Collaborating with developers in seeing designs through to implementation 
• Incorporating customer feedback into design in order to enhance user experience 
• And lastly, showcasing UX and visual design work with strong design sense and articulated story telling 

Key Requirements: 

• 2+ years of experience as a UI/UX Designer  
• Portfolio of design projects 
• Understanding of design software like Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop 
• UX research skills - interviewing, observing, benchmarking, conducting surveys and understanding how to synthesize data to define actionable insights 
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
