Roles and Responsibilities

As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for:

● Leading the firmware development for our product line of safety and medical devices.

● Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining embedded firmware.

● Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define software requirements, specifications, and architectures based on product requirements and industry standards.

● Implementing firmware solutions that comply with ATEX certification, IEC 61508, and Functional Safety (SIL standards) for devices used in hazardous locations.

● Conducting thorough testing and validation of firmware to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance with safety standards.

● Optimizing firmware for power efficiency and performance to meet the life of portable and battery-powered devices.

● Implement firmware algorithms for sensor calibration, data processing, and user interface interactions.

● Assisting in hardware-software integration, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure seamless functionality of the devices.

● Collaborating with Quality Assurance and Product Validation teams to ensure the highest quality of firmware deliverables.

● Participating in code reviews and providing constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintainability.

● Keeping abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in embedded systems for continuous improvement and innovation.

Skills and Qualifications:

● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

● 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development for portable and wireless gas detectors and docking stations.

● Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages for embedded systems.

● Hands-on experience with a complete product development cycle is an add-on.

● Experience with STM32/STM8/ MSP430 or any other low-power microcontrollers for the development of low-powered devices.

● Experience in reading and optimizing analog data in various types of ADCs.

● Understanding of ATEX certification requirements and compliance.

● Understanding and practical experience with Functional Safety standards (SIL2/3 standards) in the development of safety-critical systems is an add-on.

● Experience with coding standards. (eg: Misra-C) Familiarity with System architectures and communication protocols like I2C, UART, SPI, etc. Knowledge of sleep modes and low-power optimization techniques for battery-operated devices.

● Experience in developing and using custom segment LCDs (TN, STN, etc.) used in battery-powered ultra-low power devices.

● Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and bug-tracking systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Primary skills:

At least 3+ years of working experience on embedded firmware development

- Experience in multithreaded programming, network programming (wired and wireless protocols), real-time programming, cross-platform and cross-language development

- Hands-on experience on driver development for various sensors

- Working knowledge of communication protocols like UART, I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, etc

- Product development experience with range of microcontroller/microprocessor architectures, adoption of bare-metal, RTOS and Linux operating systems on new platforms

-Hands-on experience on software development in Bluetooth domain is added advantage

- Experience with hardware lab equipment such as digital scope, logic analyser and JTAG

- Understanding of embedded development constraints and system performance

- Experience with programming in C/C++ and Embedded C

* Experience in C/C++ and have strong experience embedded application development and integration in Linux

* Good in creating unit tests, performing code reviews, optimizing performance and ensuring standards for maintainability

JOB ROLE: EMBEDDED SYSTEMS ENGINEER

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with multi-disciplinary engineering team and customer to identify and recommend hardware needs and requirements for project/product.
• Modify or assist in the development of software architecture and design for new products, prototype, or re-design, including sourcing build environments and writing technical support and control documentation.   
• Read Block Diagrams and detail circuit schematics and layout of proposed or existing hardware and assess the software and driver requirements.
• Participates in cross-divisional Edge IoT projects and/or proposals.
• Develop, oversee, and document automated tests for electrical hardware design and products as well as final operating drivers and systems.
• Evaluate and investigate product failures, and recommend repair or design modifications based on specifications, cost, resources, and risks.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to creatively approach challenges and cleverly solve difficult problems.
• Ability to independently identify daily design and customer support tasks, self-start and motivate.
• Ability to manage several projects and prioritize appropriately, with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as independently.
• Ability to learn and work in virtual environments (CAD & Hardware build packages) in-which candidate’s skills are low but persevere and overcome skill gaps autonomously.
• Some experience programming with embedded systems designs and multithreaded real-time operating systems is required.
• Solid programming experience. Preferably in C or C++, .NET, and Java programming languages.

 Job Description: Senior Software Engineer- Embedded Systems

Videogram is looking for Software Engineer in Embedded Systems who will be responsible for designing the embedded systems and installing them in machines and tools. You will be playing an important role in our software team who will be responsible to design and develop the software that controls the processor (micro-controllers and digital signal processors) of the machine. You come with a role as a professional Embedded System Software Engineer to execute a complete embedded software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment. Responsible for the complete embedded software development lifecycle
• Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software
• Coordinate with the engineers from other disciplines to develop the end product of the requisite standards
• Customize the software to suit the needs of the product nature and expected functioning
• Debug the system to remove the anomalies and inconsistencies

Requirements:

• Candidates require a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software development, embedded software, etc. 
• The candidate should be an undergraduate in Computer Science or a relevant field
• Hands-on experience in C++11 or later programming languages
• Knowledge of GIT Version control
• Experience in doing bare metal or RTOS development
