About the Role
SwitchKart is on a mission to make technology more accessible and more sustainable — we're in the business of recommerce, giving old smartphones a second life, cutting down e-waste, and extending the lifecycle of every device we touch. We're now bringing this mission to rural Karnataka.
We are looking for a sharp, creative, and deeply curious individual to be our eyes, ears, and voice on the ground.
You will travel across Gram Panchayats in Karnataka, embed yourself in communities, tell their stories, and build SwitchKart's presence from the ground up. This is not a desk job. This is a field role for someone who loves people, loves storytelling, and is excited by the idea of building something meaningful in rural India.
What You'll Do
• Content Creation: Travel across Karnataka and create entertaining, relatable short-form video content for SwitchKart's YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels channel. You are the creator — the community is the face.
• Community Storytelling: Find and tell real stories — farmers, students, women, and youth whose lives are shaped by access to affordable technology. Make people feel seen.
• Relationship Building: Build genuine relationships with panchayat leaders, local influencers, community figures, and institutions. Earn trust before earning reach.
• Partnership Activation: Identify and activate partnerships with local NGOs, schools, and other institutions — and bring these collaborations to life on camera as real stories, not sponsorships.
• Local Sponsorships: Scout and help identify local sponsorship opportunities that make sense for SwitchKart's brand presence in the community.
• Brand Bridge: Be the bridge between rural Karnataka and SwitchKart — bringing ground-level insights, feedback, and community sentiment back to the team.
What We're Looking For
Must Have
• Fluent in Kannada — you can connect naturally with rural communities
• Strong storytelling instinct — you know a good story when you see one
• Comfortable on camera and behind it — shooting, basic editing, presenting
• Genuine curiosity about people and communities
• Willingness to travel extensively across rural Karnataka
• Self-starter who can work independently with minimal hand-holding
• 2–4 years of experience in content creation, journalism, community work, or similar
Good to Have
• An existing social media presence or portfolio of video content
• Experience working in or with rural communities
• Familiarity with Instagram and YouTube analytics
