We're seeking a dynamic and technically strong Engineering Manager to lead, grow, and inspire our high-performing engineering team. In this role, you'll drive technical strategy, deliver scalable systems, and ensure SolarSquare's platforms continue to delight users at scale. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with a passion for mentoring engineers, shaping culture, and collaborating across functions to bring bold ideas to life in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities :

- Lead and manage a team of full stack developers (SDE1 to SDE3), fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous learning.

- Drive the technical vision and architectural roadmap for the MERN stack platform, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.

- Collaborate closely with product, design, and business teams to align engineering priorities with business goals and deliver impactful products.

- Ensure engineering best practices across code reviews, testing strategies, and deployment pipelines (CI/CD).

- Implement robust observability and monitoring systems to proactively identify and resolve issues in production environments.

- Optimize system performance and cost-efficiency in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Manage technical debt effectively, balancing long-term engineering health with short-term product needs.

- Recruit, onboard, and develop top engineering talent, creating growth paths for team members.

- Drive delivery excellence by setting clear goals, metrics, and expectations, and ensuring timely execution of projects.

- Advocate for secure coding practices and compliance with data protection standards (e.g., OWASP, GDPR).

Requirements :

- 8 to 12 years of experience in full stack development, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or people management role.

- Proven expertise in the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) and strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices.

- Hands-on experience designing and scaling high-traffic web applications.

- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).

- Strong understanding of observability practices and tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) for maintaining production-grade systems.

- Track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams in agile environments.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical efforts with business objectives.

- Experience with cost optimization, security best practices, and performance tuning in cloud-native environments.

Bonus : Prior experience in established Product companies or experience with scaling teams in early stage startup and designing systems from scratch.

Work Arrangement :

- Flexible work setup, including hybrid options. Monday to Friday.

Role overview:

• Must have About 5 - 11 years and at least 3 years relevant experience with Bigdata. 
• Must have Experience in building highly scalable business applications, which involve implementing large complex business flows and dealing with huge amounts of data. 
• Must have experience in Hadoop, Hive, Spark with Scala with good experience in performance tuning and debugging issues.
• Good to have any stream processing Spark/Java Kafka. 
• Must have experience in design and development of Big data projects.
• Good knowledge in Functional programming and OOP concepts, SOLID principles, design patterns for developing scalable applications. 
• Familiarity with build tools like Maven. 
• Must have experience with any RDBMS and at least one SQL database preferably PostgresSQL
• Must have experience writing unit and integration tests using scaliest
• Must have experience using any versioning control system - Git 
• Must have experience with CI / CD pipeline – Jenkins is a plus  
• Basic hands-on experience in one of the cloud provider (AWS/Azure) is a plus
• Databricks Spark certification is a plus.

What would you do here:

As a Software Development Engineer 2 you will be responsible for expanding and optimising our data and data pipeline architecture as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline design and data wrangler who enjoys optimising data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Engineer will lead our software developers on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimising or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

Responsibilities:

•Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture

•Assemble large complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

•Identify design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes optimising data delivery, coordinating to re-design infrastructure for greater scalability etc.

•Work with stakeholders including the Executive Product Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.

•Keep our data separated and secure

•Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop and Maintain CI/CD Pipelines: Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitOps practices. 
• Kubernetes Management: Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters to ensure high availability and scalability of applications. 
• Cloud Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, utilizing services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and others. 
• Infrastructure as Code: Implement and manage infrastructure using IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar. 
• Monitoring and Logging: Set up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of the infrastructure. 
• Automation: Identify and automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reliability. 
• Security: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards. 
• Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of products. 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a DevOps role. 
• AWS: In-depth knowledge of AWS services and solutions. 
• CI/CD Tools: Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar. 
• GitOps Expertise: Proficient in GitOps methodologies and tools. 
• Kubernetes: Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration. 
• Scripting and Automation: Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or similar. 
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar. 
• Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar. 
• Version Control: Strong understanding of version control systems, primarily Git.
