A bit about you

A recognized expert in their professional discipline, with significant impact and influence on organizational policy and program development. Establishes critical strategic and operational goals, and develops and implements new products, processes, standards, or operational plans to achieve organizational objectives. Regularly leads projects of critical importance to the organization—projects that carry substantial consequences for success or failure. Requires strong influence and communication with executive leadership. Problems encountered are often complex and multidimensional, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that affect multiple areas of the organization.

You will:

• Develop production-ready code to meet scope of requirements.
• With guidance, update and create documentation as needed for new and existing solutions.
• Participate in code-reviews with comments to improve code quality, stability, and maintainability.
• Create and maintain unit and integration testing solutions. Be able to run your code in lower environments.
• Run tests on the mobile device to ensure code meets requirements
• Watch mobile releases for Android or iOS for features you developed
• Teardown your solutions across multiple environments and platforms.
•  Provide operational support of your deployed code
• Determine issues within your areas of expertise.
• Work with teams across the engineering organization to understand and incorporate client requirements into final solutions.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

You have:

• Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in Computer Science or a related field, OR 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• 2+ years of hands-on Android application development using Kotlin and Android Studio.
• Experience with modern Android libraries and frameworks, including Jetpack components (e.g., Navigation, Room, ViewModel, LiveData), Retrofit for networking, and image loading libraries (e.g., Glide, Coil).
• Proficiency with asynchronous programming using Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
• Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger/Hilt or Koin.
• Experience with app architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVI, and clean architecture principles.
• 2+ years of experience working in Agile teams and participating in iterative development cycles.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, best practices, performance optimization, and memory management.
• Experience with unit and UI testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Espresso).
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative version control workflows.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools and automated build/deployment pipelines.
• Ability to independently take ownership of tasks and deliver robust solutions.
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

Would be great if you have:

• Experience with React Native, including building function components, using hooks, and working with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Knowledge of Play Store processes, including app signing, publishing, and release management.
• Familiarity with ingesting and exposing large datasets in the weather industry.
• Experience in the advertising industry.
• Proficiency with tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory.

Your Key Responsibilities

You'll be taking full ownership of end-to-end app development along with

maintaining our accounts on Play Stores and App Store.

Defining the architecture for the App and maintaining it with industry standards.

Improving app performance along with an amazing customer experience.

Working closely with the product team to create a useful application for the

customers.

Prototyping new features and exploring technological solutions to deliver an

amazing experience.

Leverage native APIs for deep integrations.

Maintain code and write automated tests to ensure the product is of the highest

quality.

Recommended skills

3+ years of experience of working with React Native.

Experience with Native Android/IOS native is a plus.

Expertise in Live streaming from mobile app is a plus.

Experience with automated testing suites.

Knowledge about Offline Storage, REST APIs, and document request model.

Experience of working on products similar to Instagram, Moz, Hotstar, Mxtaka,

Roposo, Leherapp, Dailyhunt, etc is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build advanced hybrid mobile applications using React Native
• Lead the application development effort by being the SPOC
• Build hybrid apps using React Native for Android/iOS
• Publish apps to corresponding App store/Play store
• Implement new technologies to maximize application performance and optimize load time
• Collaborate with the back-end developer to build the RESTful APIs
• Research on emerging technologies and trends
• Participate in the planning and design of future software and technical architectures

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands on experience in the full life cycle of Hybrid mobile application development including publishing one or more apps to the play store & app store
• Must have developed Hybrid Mobile application using React. Hands on Working experience of React Native is a must.
• Experience developing back-end services preferably with NodeJS.
• Experience in developing apps on native Android/iOS platforms is a plus
• Experience in designing and working with n-tier architectures (UI, Business Logic Layer, Data Access Layer) along with some experience with service-oriented architectures (SOA)
• Strong skills in RESTful web services
• Experience with Agile methodologies would be helpful

Job Description

- With 2+ years of experience of React Native experience on iOS/Android. Platforms

- Must have experience on RESTful Web-Services

- Deep familiarity with Redux and common popular React Native patterns, libraries, components, and frameworks.

- Well verse in Android and Ios framework and have atleast 2 app on playstore/Appstore.

- Mobile-first design and responsive code deeply ingrained in your thought process.

About the Role

As an Android Developer, you will own the Android app and strive to deliver the best learning experience out there to our learners that upGrad is known for. You will be responsible for developing features, taking those features to production and maintaining the existing code. Innovative nature and pro-active involvement in the product is taken very seriously at upGrad, therefore, a major part of your role would involve thinking about new features and new ways to deliver quality learning experience to our learners

Skills/Experience

1. Minimum 6+ years of hands-on Android development experience.
2. Strong Java and object-oriented concepts.
3. Solid understanding of Android architectural patterns especially MVVM and their importance in scalable software development process.
4. Strong understanding of Android fundamentals.
5. Experience in Android UI creation.
6. Experience of Android Live Data, Kotlin and Constraint layout would be a huge plus point.

Years of Exp –  Minimum 6-8 

 Expert experience developing multiple commercial-grade mobile applications iOS using native languages (Objective-C / Swift, Xcode or Java).

- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for IOS or Android. Strong experience developing multithreaded applications.

- Solid knowledge of mobile OS architecture - in areas of: UI, memory management, data storage, application management by OS and cybersecurity.

- Experience with charting of data (scientific or medical data is preferred), either custom-developed or third-party charting libraries.

- Experience with UI development of mobile application (scalable for different screen resolutions and localization).

- Demonstrate initiative in all areas of work - proactive in identifying shortfalls in requirements, design or code.

- Experience working with continuous integration.

- Experience working with cross-functional teams.

- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written). High-quality SDD/design and implementation documentation skills a must.

- Experience with unit-testing and test automation preferred.

- Must have apps published in either Apple/Google store.

Requirements and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information technology or related field

- Evidence of continuing education, such as technical certifications, a plus

- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Information Technology field

- Minimum 4 years’ experience in mobile application development

- Prior experience working in an FDA regulated environment, a plus

- Ability to work in high-pressure, deadline driven environment
