Software Engineer – EdTech (PHP)

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled software developer with strong experience in EdTech platforms and education ERP systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in core PHP/Laravel and database technologies, with hands-on experience in building and scaling education-focused modules such as LMS, online examination systems, admissions, and fee management.

This role focuses on developing scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for schools, colleges, and online learning platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Education ERP and EdTech platform modules.
• Build and enhance systems for LMS (Learning Management System), online exams, admissions, fee management, HR, and finance.
• Develop and optimize REST APIs/GraphQL services for seamless integration with web and mobile platforms.
• Ensure high performance, scalability, and security for large-scale student and institutional data.
• Work closely with product, QA, and implementation teams to deliver EdTech features.
• Conduct code reviews, maintain coding standards, and mentor junior developers.
• Continuously improve platform capabilities based on EdTech trends and user needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Core PHP (Laravel Framework).
• Solid experience with MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL (database design & optimization).
• Understanding of EdTech workflows like student lifecycle, course management, and assessments.
• Frontend basics: JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS (React/Vue is a plus).
• Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, and third-party integrations (payment gateways, SMS, and email services).
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an advantage.
• Minimum 3+ years of development experience, with at least 2 years in education ERP/EdTech systems.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working in EdTech companies or education ERP platforms.
• Deep understanding of LMS, online examination systems, admissions, fees, HR, and finance modules.
• Experience handling high-traffic educational platforms (e.g., exam portals, live classes, student dashboards).
• Exposure to scalable architecture for large student/user bases.

• Take full ownership of features from problem → design → code → deploy → iterate
• Build modular, scalable APIs and frontend components using the MERN stack
• Use AI tools to write, debug, optimize code, and unblock yourself fast
• Integrate 3rd-party APIs, services, and AI capabilities where relevant
• Collaborate async with product, design, and other engineers
• Optimize performance, scalability, and dev workflows
• Own dev hygiene—documentation, tests, Git practices, CI/CD pipelines

Must-Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 4–5 years of full-stack experience in production-grade MERN apps
• You’ve shipped products end-to-end, not just maintained features
• Strong in JavaScript/TypeScript, both on frontend and backend
• Solid foundation in system design, API design, and debugging
• Comfortable using AI-native tools to code faster and better
• GitHub is your second home. You write clean commits and structured PRs
• Cloud/infra experience (Vercel, AWS, Docker/Kubernetes)

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience in HR or Ed Tech, Experience in assessment platforms
• Experience with SSR (Next.js), GraphQL, WebSockets, or Firebase
• Familiarity with AI API integration (OpenAI, Pinecone, LangChain, etc.)
• Open-source contributions, side projects, or an active GitHub

- Good understanding of NODE JS back-end development

- Strong understanding of Node.js and frameworks available for it

- Understanding of front-end technologies, such as React or Angular, HTML and CSS3
-Solid understanding of object-oriented development and design patterns.

- Good experience with AJAX, REST and JSON

- Experience with development practices such as Test-Driven Development and Continuous Integration
-Experience in Version Control Systems like GIT, Bitbucket
- Must have good problem solving and analytical skills.

- Must be a team player, having good communication skills, self-starter

- Ability to pick up new technology is needed.

·         Architect, develop and deploy software using Django/ Python

·         Strong hands on experience in Django and Python Experience with RDBMS, PostgreSQL, MySQL.

·         Experience with HTML5, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery.

·         Experience with Linux platform.

·         Experience building responsive web applications with Bootstrap

·         Understanding of Amazon AWS/ EC2 deployment architecture experience is a plus

·         Experience with source control management tools (Git preferred) Preferred skills 

·         Any work experience related to data scraping algorithms would be an add on weightage
