Job Purpose

We are looking for an energetic and self-starter software developer to join our product development practice as a Senior Software Engineer (SSE).

You will get to work with some of the best and knowledgeable tech talent in the financial world and you will build next generation digital services and platforms that will lead the transformation goals for our customers. You will work closely with the engineering, UX, product and test automation communities, as part of the agile team, to lead product design and development and to help the Digital Service Product Owner to deliver and maximize value.

You will drive engineering and architecture best practices for writing and encouraging others to write secure code and dev-ops process while getting opportunities for learning new business domain and topics, to work with industry SMEs and to learn new technology and behavioral skills.

Key Responsibilities

As a Full-stack Developer

• 8+ year’s professional experience in enterprise software design and development in an N-tier architecture environment;
• Understanding of 12-factor app framework is highly desirable
• Must have experience building web applications using .NET core 3.x (.NET 5.0 is better), Web API, HTML5, React OR other JS-based frameworks like Angular
• Must have experience with tools such as Jira, Github, Confluence (or other wiki), SonarQube (or similar), OWASP ZAP (or similar) and Snyk (or similar)
• Experience with data visualization libraries /framework like D3js, Plotly, HighCharts etc. will be an advantage
• Must have experience with SOA and Web Service standards (REST & JSON/SOAP & WSDL/WS-I Basic Profile), and IIS
• Understand the business requirements from the product owner(s)
• Design and implement the system from scratch & build enhancements, features request using modern application frameworks using C# and React with .NET Core, Web API, AWS services etc.
• Participate in both development & maintenance tasks
• Independently troubleshoot difficult and complex issues on production and other environments

As a Technical Lead in the pod

• Must have experience of working in an automated CI/CD environment and with fast moving teams using Scrum/Agile; Experience with AWS and other cloud providers is highly desirable
• Must have extensive experience with object oriented design principles. Ability to articulate the pros and cons of design/implementation options
• Participate in design review and peer code review
• Work collaboratively in a global setting, should be eager to learn new technologies
• Responsible for extending and maintaining existing codebase with focus on quality, re-usability, maintainability and consistency
• Coach teams on best practices and architecture design

As member of the Engineering community

• Must have extensive experience with object oriented design principles.
• Ability to articulate the pros and cons of design/implementation options
• Good understanding and knowledge of areas including but not limited to requirement gathering, designing, development, testing, maintenance, quality control etc.
• Stay up-to-date on latest developments in technology
• Learn and share learnings with the community

As Senior/Lead Software Engineer, you will play a significant role in turning our product vision into reality, while working within the Product Engineering team to add value across our product. Our product is written mainly in Java (Spring, Hibernate) and ReactJS with our Design System, Electric. Our architecture is a combination of microservices, decoupled AWS service architectures, and a well-maintained monolith. The product is deployed on AWS across multiple regions. We use tools like Docker and Buildkite and deploy our systems and monitor our technology using CloudWatch, New Relic and SquadCast. We’re looking for someone to help us evolve how our systems operate together while we grow our team and capability.

What will I be doing?

• Creating change in a complex system. Working within our product stream, making well-considered decisions around patterns, principals, frameworks, languages and tools, thinking through and mitigating for potential cascading impacts of those changes.
• Designing and developing well-architected systems. Understand and contribute to our product source code and cloud infrastructure.
• Designing holistically, delivering iteratively. Work with the team to break down system-wide architecture recommendations into small, intelligently planned increments for delivery. 
• Advocate for technology needs. Translate technology risk into opportunity during product and technology roadmap discussions.
• Coach and mentor. Assist with career development of less experienced staff on our teams.
• Putting Customers First. A regular rotation on support for the systems we develop.

 What we’re looking for

• Demonstrated experience as a software engineer, with 4-8 years experience in technology roles
• Experience working on complex systems and cloud architectures
• Significant experience with across the full stack:
• The Java programming language and frameworks such as Spring & SpringBoot 
• Front-end Javascript frameworks such as ReactJS
• Good knowledge of AWS services, design patterns and practices - ideally certified but if not, we’ll help you get there
• Some knowledge of optimising databases and SQL queries for high-performance 
• Experience and keen understanding of the value of working in agile teams
• A “quality-first” mindset, with experience working in continuous integration environments and supporting the systems you contribute to
• Highly effective at communicating, and comfortable whiteboarding design ideas with teams of engineers, product managers, and business analysts
• Desire to challenge the status quo and maturity to know when to compromise
• Respect for other team members and a highly collaborative approach to working and learning together

Required a full stack Senior SDE with focus on Backend microservices/ modular monolith with 3-4+ years of experience on the following:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry technical skills
• Mandatory In-depth knowledge and strong experience in Python programming language.
• Expertise and significant work experience in Python with Fastapi and Async frameworks. 
• Prior experience building Microservice and/or modular monolith.
• Should be an expert Object Oriented Programming and Design Patterns.
• Has knowledge and experience with SQLAlchemy/ORM, Celery, Flower, etc.
• Has knowledge and experience with Kafka / RabbitMQ, Redis.
• Experience in Postgres/ Cockroachdb.
• Experience in MongoDB/DynamoDB and/or Cassandra are added advantages.
• Strong experience in either AWS services (e.g, EC2, ECS, Lambda, StepFunction, S3, SQS, Cognito). and/or equivalent Azure services preferred.
• Experience working with Docker required.
• Experience in socket.io added advantage
• Experience with CI/CD e.g. git actions preferred. 
• Experience in version control tools Git etc.

This is one of the early positions for scaling up the Technology team. So culture-fit is really important.

• We are looking for someone who has considerable expertise and experience on a low latency highly scaled backend / fullstack engineering stack. The role is ideal for someone who's willing to take such challenges.

 Strong experience in front-end design and development minimum 3+ Year to implement responsive, robust/secure, user-friendly/functional, network -sensitive web applications.  Knowledge of REACT tools including React.js, Webpack, Enzyme, Redux, and Flux.  Experience with modern frameworks such as Nodejs, AngularJS Express  Experience in building API and WebSockets for client-server communication with security considerations.  Experience with server-side.  Experience with web services API integration (Rest, JSON, XML).  Ability to understand requirements and map to technical implementation.  Strong knowledge of best practices and modern web design trends is necessary.  Excel at rapid prototyping and at writing good code.  Experience with modern version control.  (GIT or BitBucket).  Experience with testing/debugging in multiple platforms.  Experience with HTML CSS frameworks such as bootstrap.  Understanding of general user experience and UI design principles.  Agile methodologies.  Self-motivated, thinking up and executing own ideas.

Role & Responsibilities

• A Proven work experience as a Ruby on Rails developer with good understanding of Java script, jQuery, HTML, CSS. The individual will need to be hands on with development, performance optimisation, secure development process, usability, and coding standards of the product.
• Strong ROR development experience and follows best practices (test-driven development, continuous integration, SCRUM, refactoring, and code standards).
• Should have a mix of excellent reasoning ability to document, develop and test software with the commitment to excellence and defect free product before being deployed.

Desired Candidate Profile

Responsibilities

• Hands-On development of the core components of the Product Platform
• Liaison with the Technical Architect and Project Manager to understand project scope and objectives
• Break-up overall project scope into a manageable set of tasks and help the Project Manager define Sprints
• Own the Technical Design for different components of the Product Platform
• Help the Project Manager develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
• Develop the product as per design and structure using appropriate technologies meeting the requirements, quality standards and timelines.
• Technical Mentoring of the Team in an effective and efficient manner to uphold quality
• Provide early insights on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about progress and potential risks
• Escalate issues affecting project delivery to appropriate levels within the company and/or vendor and track them to resolution
• Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and technical standards throughout project execution

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field or MCA
• 7-10 years of hands-on technical experience with 2-3 years of leading a team
• Strong command over Java, NodeJS, ReactJS, and similar Full Stack technologies
• Strong SQL and NoSQL knowledge for databases like MySQL and MongoDB
• Strong understanding of Git and related strategies like Pull Requests, merging, etc.
• Experience with GoLang preferred
• Exposure to DevOps over at least one Cloud Platforms like AWS or Azure in addition to the experience in developing cloud-native applications
• Strong familiarity with software tools like JIRA, Agile, TDD/BDD methodologies, and best practices
• Strong understanding of Algorithms and Design Patterns with proven ability to solve problems creatively
• Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
