Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with proven experience in Node.js, modern frameworks and GraphQL. The ideal candidate will excel in building robust, scalable APIs and integrating diverse databases, while collaborating within a fast-paced, cross functional team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain server-side applications using Node.js, NestJS and ExpressJS frameworks.

• Build, optimize and maintain GraphQL APIs, including schema design, query and mutation implementation and resolver logic.

• Integrate and manage SQL (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases.

• Write clean, maintainable and eSicient code following best practices and coding standards.

• Develop and execute unit tests; participate in code reviews to ensure code quality.

• Collaborate with frontend developers and other stakeholders to define, design and ship new features.

• Utilize Git workflows for version control, branching, merging and code deployment.

• Document technical specifications and architectural decisions.

• Stay up to date with backend and API technologies, including emerging GraphQL tools and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2-6 years of proven experience in backend development using Node.js

• Hands-on experience with NestJS and ExpressJS frameworks.

• Strong proficiency in building and maintaining GraphQL APIs, including schema definition, query optimization and resolver implementation.

• Solid understanding of SQL (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases.

• Proficiency in JavaScript (and/or TypeScript).

• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.

• Proficiency in writing unit tests and using testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha).

• Understanding of RESTful and GraphQL API design and integration.

• Familiarity with security best practices in backend and API development.

• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GraphQL server frameworks and tools (e.g., Apollo Server, Prisma).

• Familiarity with GraphQL clients (Apollo Client, Relay) and frontend integration.

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, AWS Lambda functions, AWS Cloudwatch, AWS S3 and DevOps practices.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Exposure to microservices architecture and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

What kind of work will you get?

We are looking for a Nodejs developer.

Examples of technical tasks:

Working on our backend SDK to implement APIs that will be consumed by the frontend widgets

Designing APIs for different auth recipes

Architecting auth flows

You will also be given non technical tasks like product brain storming, competitor analysis and writing documentation.

Requirements

Well versed in nodejs with 2+ years of professional experience

Familiar with and comfortable working with Web frameworks like FastAPI, Django and Flask

Familiar with HTTP networking in nodejs

Strong understanding of async and sync modes in nodejs

Bonus:

Contributed to open source, or have your own open source repo with a community and many github stars

Built an in-house authentication or authorization solution or worked with solutions such as Keycloak, Auth0, Ory, Okta etc

About the Role

Initiate and drive technical decisions on a multi-functional, Agile team alongside product management, product design, and engineering

Work closely with product to translate abstract business and product requirements into crisp technical specifications along with a delivery roadmap

Resolve blockers and help the team stay productive

Perform code and design reviews

Take part in building the team and iterating on hiring processes

Must have Requirements for the Role

8+ years of experience in a highly technical role at hyper-growth startup or fast-paced company and 2+ years of experience leading a team

Production level experience with Node.js or Go mandatory.

Experience building highly available and performant applications in any major programming language (e.g. Node.js, Go, Javascript)

In-depth knowledge and experience working with major cloud platform (e.g. AWS (must have experience))

Experience leading product teams

You are a good communicator who can explain technical concepts to product managers, designers, support and other engineers

Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment and with geographically distributed teamsIn-depth knowledge of database and web security

Designation: Backend Developer

Location:  Mumbai (Currently Remote)

Principal Accountabilities:

• Develop, Enhance, and Modify Applications for a Global Market Environment.
• Design, Code, Test, Debug, and Document programs for corporate systems architecture.
• Work closely with Business stakeholders to define requirements for system applications

Work Dimensions:

• API integration, Application deployment, Test Driven Development & Agile methodologies
• Database designing ; (Knowledge of NoSQL databases is a plus).
• Familiarity in Unix/Linux development environments & tools including scripting.
• Designing system architecture for solving complex problems with a sound understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
