Role Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will take full ownership of building and scaling critical product systems. You will work directly with the founding team to transform complex real-world problems into scalable technical solutions.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy thinking deeply about systems, writing clean code, and building products from 0 → 1.

Key Responsibilities

System Development & Architecture

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, primarily using Kotlin or JVM-based languages (Java/Scala).
• Architect systems that are robust, high-performance, and production-ready.
• Apply strong data structures, algorithms, and system design principles to solve complex engineering challenges.

Full Stack Development

• Build fast, maintainable front-end applications using React.
• Ensure seamless integration between frontend systems and backend services.

Cloud Infrastructure

• Design and manage cloud architecture using AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Implement scalable deployment pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure optimization.

Product & Technical Collaboration

• Work closely with founders and product stakeholders to translate business problems into technical solutions.
• Contribute actively to product and engineering roadmap decisions.

Performance Optimization

• Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement efficient algorithms and system optimizations to gain a technical advantage.

Engineering Excellence

• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
• Maintain strong engineering standards across the codebase.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Core Requirements

• Strong computer science fundamentals (Data Structures, Algorithms, System Design).
• Experience with Kotlin or JVM languages such as Java or Scala.
• Experience building modern React applications.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP).
• Experience designing and deploying scalable distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

• Experience with Google Maps APIs or geospatial integrations.
• Prior startup experience.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Personal side projects demonstrating strong engineering ability.

Experience: 3-7 Years

TAPPP is leading the charge in bringing premium digital entertainment content & live sports to global consumers via its prepaid platform. TAPPP is available across platforms via the Web, Mobile and Tablets. Building out this brand presents significant product and engineering challenges. At the centre of solving those challenges is the TAPPP Product Engineering team which is responsible for the TAPPP product end to end.

We are looking for a coding enthusiast who love working with code and developing software systems.

You will be a part of the core product development team that is responsible for building different components of the TAPPP platform. You will be responsible for designing, coding, reviewing, testing, bug-fixing different modules of the software product that needs to work seamlessly across different environments.

The organization is flat, process is minimal, individual responsibility is big, and there is an emphasis on keeping non-productive influences out of the everyday technical decision making process. Upholding these philosophies will be imperative as we execute our aggressive plan of global expansion over the next 2 years. The position is based in Mumbai, India.

Core Experience:

•Experience in Core Java, J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, Spring REST, Linux, JUnit, Maven, Design Patterns.

• Sound knowledge of RDBMS like MySQL/Postgres, including schema design.

• Exposure to Linux environment.

• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.

• Basic Knowledge of Cloud Services of AWS, Azure, GCP cloud provider.

• Proficient in general programming, logic, problem solving, data structures & algorithms

• Good analytical, grasping and problem-solving skills.

Secondary Skills:

• Agile / Scrum Development Experience preferred.

• Comfortable working with a microservices architecture and familiarly with NoSql solutions.

• Experience in Test Driven Development.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Hands-on skills in configuration of popular build tools, like Maven and Gradle

• Good knowledge of testing frameworks such as JUnit.

• Good knowledge of coding standards, source code organization and packaging/deploying.

• Good knowledge of current and emerging technologies and trends.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, Development and Delivery of Java based enterprise-grade applications.

• Ensure best practices, quality and consistency within various design and development phases.

• Develop, test, implement and maintain application software working with established processes.

Work with QA and help them for test automation

• Work with Technical Writer and help them documenting the features you have developing.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s / master’s degree in computer science or information technology or related field

Key roles:

·       Develop backend application with clean code practices foe the application

·       Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server side logic

·       Troubleshoot and debug application

·       Gather and address technical and design requirements

·       Build reusable code and libraries for future user-facing

·       Communicate with other third-party team for collaborations

Skillset:

·       Core Java - Hands on experience with Jdk 11 and above

·       Experience with code hosting and collaboration tools like Bitbucket/Github/GitLab

·       Microservice architecture - Rest API calls, inter-service exception handling

·       Non-relational DB - MongoDB basic DB commands to insert, update, delete, find records and Indexing
