Full Stack Android Developer

Join our team as a Full Stack Engineer and take ownership of a product that is actively shaping our industry. You’ll play a crucial role in further developing our internal document comparison solution, which is built on Clean Architecture principles and enhanced with AI-driven features. If you enjoy working across both backend and frontend, leading initiatives, and exploring the integration of AI models into practical applications, we’d love to meet you.

What We’re Looking For:

•  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Java and JavaScript
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and Clean Architecture principles
• Experience working with MySQL
• Experience with frontend frameworks (Vue.js preferred; React or Angular also welcome)
• Familiarity with PDF processing libraries (experience with Apache PDFBox is a plus)
• Cloud experience (Azure or AWS) is an advantage
• Interest in AI models and how they can be integrated into real-world solutions
• Proactive, independent mindset with strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and task tracking tools (e.g., Jira)
• Insurance industry exposure is nice to have

What You’ll Be Doing:

•  Take ownership of the full-stack development and technical direction of the project
• Maintain and expand existing Java-based backend services and Vue.js frontend components
• Work on integrating AI models for document comparison features
• Optimize the performance and scalability of the application end-to-end
• Implement and enhance microservices and REST APIs
• Build and refine UI features to improve user experience
• Ensure high code quality through testing (JUnit, Mockito for backend; Cypress/Jest for frontend) and documentation (Swagger)
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team (PM, BAs, part-time AI Engineer)
• Mentor and support junior developers when needed

Job Summary:

As a  Software Engineer II  at OpenGov, you'll build best-in-class SaaS solutions that enable efficiency, transparency, and accountability within government agencies. You'll be a key member of our engineering team, delivering new features and improvements in a fast-paced, agile environment using modern technologies, including ReactJS, Javascript, GraphQL, and NodeJS.

A typical day in this role would provide opportunities to design, implement and optimize complex applications for speed and scalability, and resolve various unique technical challenges. Strong collaboration skills with the product, UX, and platform engineers coupled with the ability to execute quickly will enable your success.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality software with minimum supervision
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence 
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team
• Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption and quality

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

• BA/BS in a computer-science-related discipline or equivalent experience required
• 3+ years of professional experience in developing cloud native applications.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ or C# or equivalent program language is required.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS is required 
• Proficiency in data structures, database concepts, algorithms and observability is required
• Working knowledge of event-driven architecture and Kafka preferred
• Working knowledge of ElasticSearch/OpenSearch preferred

• 2 – 6 years of experience with in Java /J2EE.
• Hands-on experience working on Core JAVA, JSP, Servlets, Spring,Java script, Apache & Tomcat, Web services ,ReactJS and JQuery.
• Having experience on Multi-threading is added advantage.
• Exposure working on Linux environment is preferred.
• The ability to work in a fast, agile and nimble environment with frequent change
• Good communication & presentation skills

As the primary person responsible for everything Blockchain in the company, we think it will be a great fit if -

1. You love everything Crypto and are passionate to create the World's safest Crypto wallet.
2. You have MERN stack & DevOps experience on AWS.
3. You have reasonable open-source development experience and have shipped production-ready code.
4. You can commit for at least 6 months and you are ideally in your 4th year of college and willing to join full time after the internship if mutually agreed.
