DevOps Engineer (Python + DevOps)

Job Purpose and Impact

The DevOps Engineer is a key position to strengthen the security automation capabilities which have been identified as a critical area for growth and specialization within Global IT’s scope. As part of the Cyber Intelligence Operation’s DevOps Team, you will be helping shape our automation efforts by building, maintaining and supporting our security infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to understand and evaluate business requirements.
• Implement modern engineering practices to ensure product quality.
• Provide designs, prototypes and implementations incorporating software engineering best practices, tools and monitoring according to industry standards.
• Write well-designed, testable and efficient code using full-stack engineering capability.
• Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Proficiency in at least one configuration management or orchestration tool, such as Ansible.
• Experience with cloud monitoring and logging services.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent exp
• Knowledge of public cloud services & application programming interfaces
• Working exp with continuous integration and delivery practices

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant exp whether in IT, IS, or software development
• Exp in:
•  Code repositories such as Git
• Scripting languages (Python & PowerShell)
• Using Windows, Linux, Unix, and mobile platforms within cloud services such as AWS
• Cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) / platform as a service (PaaS), microservices, Docker containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins
• Databases such as Postgres, SQL, Elastic

Minimum requirements :

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in degree in computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or equivalent degree.

- 3+ years of experience as a DevSecOps engineer.

- Proficiency in back-end technologies such as NodeJs or Python.

- Expertise in using DevOps tools like GitHub, dependency management, and CI/CD.

- Profound knowledge of AWS cloud, DevOps culture and automation tools.

- Fluent in both spoken and written English communication.

- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a 2-3 hour overlap with European time zone.

- Stay up-to-date on cybersecurity threats and follow the best practices.

- Previous project experience related to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications.

• Collaborate with Dev, QA and Data Science teams on environment maintenance, monitoring (ELK, Prometheus or equivalent), deployments and diagnostics
• Administer a hybrid datacenter, including AWS and EC2 cloud assets
• Administer, automate and troubleshoot container based solutions deployed on AWS ECS
• Be able to troubleshoot problems and provide feedback to engineering on issues
• Automate deployment (Ansible, Python), build (Git, Maven. Make, or equivalent) and integration (Jenkins, Nexus) processes
• Learn and administer technologies such as ELK, Hadoop etc.
• A self-starter and enthusiasm to learn and pick up new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Need to have

• Hands-on Experience in Cloud based DevOps
• Experience working in AWS (EC2, S3, CloudFront, ECR, ECS etc)
• Experience with any programming language.
• Experience using Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes
• Experience in Python.
• Should be very comfortable working in Linux/Unix environment.
• Exposure to Shell Scripting.
• Solid troubleshooting skills

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required
• 3 years of experience in hands-on DevOps engineering
• Working experience with C#
• Maintain and administer Jenkins systems
• Expert in using Azure and AWS toolkits
• Good understanding of cloud application design patterns and practices preferably AWS
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
• Experience implementing CI/CD
• Experience using a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
• Experience with infrastructure automation solutions (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)

• Defined and implemented the configuration for high throughput and scale with capacity planning load balancing strategies.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Experience with Jenkins or any other CI/CD tool

We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer that will help our team establish DevOps practice. You will work closely with the technical lead ( and/or CTO ) to identify and establish DevOps practices in the company.

You will help us build scalable, efficient cloud infrastructure. You’ll implement monitoring for automated system health checks. Lastly, you’ll build our CI pipeline, and train and guide the team in DevOps practices.
