Data Engineer

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience as a Python developer.
• Expert knowledge of Python and related frameworks including FastAPI/Flask/Django
• Experience in designing, developing, and managing cloud-based (AWS/GCP) infrastructure and applications.
• Good to have knowledge on Docker & CI-CD pipelines
• Good understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Ability to integrate multiple data sources into a single system.
• Ability to collaborate on projects and work independently when required.
• Excellent problem solving and communication abilities, to be able to solve complex problems that may arise during the development process.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Developing applications using the python programming language.
• Involvement in all aspects of the software development life cycle, from requirements gathering to testing and deployment.
• Writing clean, scalable & efficient code
• Integrating user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic
• Building reusable code libraries for future use
• Working closely with other members of the development team, as well as customers or clients to ensure that applications are developed according to specifications.
• Testing applications thoroughly before deployment in order to ensure that they are free of errors.
• Deploying applications and providing support after deployment, if necessary.
• Assisting senior developers in mentoring junior staff members
• Updating software programs as new versions become available.

Requirements

• Senior SD4 engineer/Principal Engineer/ Architect who has led or been part of platform teams inside a large/mid tech company
• Deep expertise working with any of the programming languages to write maintainable, scalable, unit-tested code.Python experience is a bonus - but not required
• Good understanding of REST APIs and the web in general and ability to build a feature from scratch & drive it to completion
• Experience with Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Load Balancing
• Experience in building a platform team on AWS for Product based companies/start-ups

What You’ll Do

• Build the core technology platform, including Automated provisioning of infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring of services
• Build a central services directory within an organization that shows the cost and health of all services and makes the management of microservices extremely easy
• This involves working with core infrastructure and understanding them in great detail - like Kubernetes, ServiceMesh, Service security
• Mentor/coach engineers to facilitate their development and provide technical leadership

THE POSITION:

- 3+ years of relevant experience in designing & implementing scalable, resilient backend microservices

- Expert at any backend programming language (Python/GoLang preferrable) and has exposure to API design and scalable architecture

- Hands-on experience on a couple of RDBMS/NoSQL/In-memory DBs

- Great database modelling skills

- Ability to choose the right algorithm, data-structure, and design pattern for the given problem statement

- Knowledge of any cloud based platform like AWS or GCP and scaling on the go

- Understanding of various application security principles and experience with building applications secure by design

Skills & Experience

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or relevant technical field.
• Experience in software development and full product life-cycle.
• Excellent programming skills in any object-oriented programming languages - preferably Java, C/C++/C#, Perl, Python, or Ruby.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance, scalability, and availability.
• Proficiency in SQL and data modeling.
