Backend Developer

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with XML-based web services (SOAP, REST).
• Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) for XML data storage.

• Certifications in XML technologies are a plus.

💥 What will you do?

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will

• Build out and help scale our Django (+ReactJS / VueJS) based web application as we add new features and customers

• Help us transition from monolithic system architecture to microservices and serverless system architecture to help meet our future scaling requirements

• Collaborate on a daily basis with a small, nimble team of product managers, engineers, and UX designers to understand business requirements and user experience goals and pain points.
• Build out features to enable multi-channel customer acquisition include partner channels, enterprise channels, and government channels
• Integrate third-party plugins to enhance customer experience and internal tooling build internal tooling to improve internal team efficiencies.
• Actively participate in code reviews
• Work with our quality assurance team to improve coverage on our automated testing suites

• Prior experience of a few years (3+ years) with python based frameworks as Django or Flask would be essential to work on our application stack.

• You enjoy designing software architecture by collaborating with engineering managers, architects, and other lead engineers to explore existing systems, determining areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation.

📢 Other information you may want to consider 

• We will be flexible for the rest of the pandemic and work remotely; however, we are not a remote-first company, and the work location would be Bangalore when things settle.
• Our backend tech stack includes Django, FastAPI, Postgres, Redis, Clickhouse, and TigerGraph. Our environments are managed through Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

Your Responsibilities:

• Own the backend stack – Python based, that powers our product

• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Backend Developers(Node.js), Front-end developers, DevOps to design and implement new features
• Build and maintain several Backend Jobs and REST’ful Services which will be used internally in a Macroservices/Distributed services environment.
• Deploy and monitor the Jobs and endpoints ensuring availability and scalability(ability to handle 100X data processing load)
• Work on full project lifecycle starting from requirements gathering/understanding the problem to deploying and maintaining the project.

Skills that you bring Along:

• A minimum 8+ years of extensive work experience with Python and related frameworks – particularly Flask.
• Extensive experience in designing and scheduling backend Python jobs
• Hands on working in different file formats like Json, Parquet, csv etc. coming from Data Science side.
• Extensive experience with databases such as Postgres and Mongo.
• Extensive experience in Cloud Infrastructure (AWS based) – e.g. AWS API Gateway, Lambda Functions etc.
• Experience with cache like Redis and/or Memory cache
• Good experience in Microservices/Macroservices or Event driven Architectures
• Good experience with design patterns
• Experience in writing advanced SQL-queries, good knowledge of PL/SQL
• Good understanding of Software Design Principles and domain-driven design
• Good experience with Continuous Delivery and Containerization(Docker)
• Good experience in designing and maintaining REST’ful API endpoints
• Ideally maintaining infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
• Ideally experience in parallel data processing and building end-to-end Data Pipelines using tools such as Airflow/Prefect and Spark/Dask
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics in a simple manner

Qualifications

• 2+ years' of experience in web development using NodeJs technologies.
• B.E., B. Tech., Msc IT, MCA etc in Software engineering/ Information technology.

Responsibilities

• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code following best practices (unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, design patterns, etc)
• Debug and refactoring of existing code, troubleshoot problems

• Take full responsibility for the quality of the code and test cases that are developed.
• Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
• Provide task estimations and deliver quality code on time.
• Participate in architectural, design, and product sessions.

• Research and apply new technologies and best practices.
• Should enjoy the experience of mentoring new hires on technical and process areas.
• Must have hands-on experience in building Microservices based software architecture. Must have Unix /Docker /Kubernetes /NOSQL experience

Requirements

• Knowledge of ReactJS is preferable.
• Extensive knowledge of JavaScript.
• Thorough understanding of databases such as MySQL, MongoDB or similar technologies
• In depth knowledge of working with Git.
• Experience with Restful APIs, Postman etc.
• Understanding of AWS/EC2, or other cloud services.
• Object-oriented application building experience in a professional Agile/Scrum environment. 
• Good to have Unix /Docker/Kubernetes/NOSQL experience.
