Backend Developer

MathonGo is looking for a Backend Developer to build and maintain scalable systems for our learning platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js.
• Design APIs and database structures using MongoDB.
• Use Redis for caching and performance improvement.
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS.
• Fix bugs, improve performance, and ensure system reliability.
• Work closely with frontend and product teams.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Node.js and JavaScript.
• Experience with MongoDB and Redis.
• Understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture.
• Basic experience with AWS deployment and services.
• Familiarity with Git and debugging.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Experience with high-traffic applications or ed-tech products will be an advantage.

Examples of technical tasks:

Working on our backend SDK to implement APIs that will be consumed by the frontend widgets

Designing APIs for different auth recipes

Architecting auth flows

You will also be given non technical tasks like product brain storming, competitor analysis and writing documentation.

Requirements

Well versed in nodejs with 2+ years of professional experience

Familiar with and comfortable working with Web frameworks like FastAPI, Django and Flask

Familiar with HTTP networking in nodejs

Strong understanding of async and sync modes in nodejs

Bonus:

Contributed to open source, or have your own open source repo with a community and many github stars

Built an in-house authentication or authorization solution or worked with solutions such as Keycloak, Auth0, Ory, Okta etc

Work as a member of a team responsible for developing a large-scale, highly available and fault-tolerant SaaS based Leasing & Asset management solution in the commercial real estate space in accordance with established processes. You will apply your knowledge of building scalable, distributed applications and have the opportunity to work with technologies & frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, NodeJS, ReactJS, Heroku, AWS, Postgres DB​

Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following.

• Contribute to all phases in the software lifecycle – requirements analysis, solution design, development, and deployment

Key technical expertise areas expected for this role:

• Strong programming skills in Ruby with clear understanding of Object-Oriented and Functional programming.

• Good Understanding of Databases (Postgres) and proficiency in database schema designing & writing efficient SQL Queries.

• Experience in designing scalable solutions in a large-scale distributed environment.
• Strong knowledge of web technologies, common web frameworks, networking, SQL and database technologies
• Well versed in software engineering principles, frameworks and technologies
• Strong debugging / troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to propose and defend solutions.
• Ability to work closely with product management, customer support, and  other engineering teams to continuously evolve and innovate the enterprise-class Products.
