Position: Lead Backend Engineer

Location: Pune, India (Initially Remote Due to COVID 19)

As a software engineer on the Backend team, you will be building and owning backend services and infrastructure that power our core products. What we are looking for?

• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• 2+ year of experience in Python/Django or Go
• Familiarity with Node.JS is a plus
• You write high quality and well-tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
• Good intuition for REST API design
• Start-up experience is a plus
• BS/MS/PHD in Computer Science or a related field (ideal)
• Preferably a Pune based candidate who can join at the earliest / Within a month

Should Be a Computer Science Graduate from a Tier-1 Engineering college like IIT/ BHU / NIT / VIT / COEP / PICT / BITS

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple teams
• Translate product’s strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development
• Analyze consumer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI
• Outline the product vision, product strategy, and product roadmap
• Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation
• Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate to-market plans
• Ensure that user story content and prioritization is aligned to the larger strategic objective
• Recommend the scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and appraising adjustments
• Provide information for management by preparing product sales forecasts and reports
• Meet regularly with key customer-facing teams to collect and analyze user feedback to shape new product ideas and user requirements.
• Help in the creation and maintenance of bona fide product documentation
• Work with development leads so that product requirements are understood and built accordingly
• Work within a software development methodology like AGILE
• Coordinate product releases with marketing, sales, and development teams
• Provide product training and technical expertise
• Work with the leadership team in planning the product roadmap.
• Be the product owner driving our strategic product and technology vision on the platform side of products 

Requirement:

• 3+ years of experience as a Technical Products Manager in a software company.
• Has deep knowledge of every stage of the product life-cycle -- introduction, growth, maturity, and decline -- and understands how it affects development adjustments.
• Critical thinker & problem solver
• Familiarity in the AGILE development framework will be preferable.
• Strong understanding of cutting-edge tools and technologies for frontend and backend development
• Data-oriented, have exceptional analytical skills
• Experience working with the development teams directly will be a plus
• Has the ability to set priorities and resolve issues and set realistic product development goals
• Should be able to communicate technical solutions to both internal and external audiences
• Understand industry flow and trends
• Has the ability to evaluate key metrics to optimize performance
• Demonstrated track record managing successful product development from feature definition to project deployment
• Work with product management analytics tools
• A people-friendly person with extraordinary organizational and leadership skills

• 5-7+ years of commercial Java development experience
• Experience with well known Open Source frameworks/libraries, like Spring Boot
• Work experience with Docker
• Microservice experience
• Experience with AWS like ECS, Lambda, SQS, RDS, Kinesis streams
• Familiar with iterative development
• Upper-intermediate level of English
• Solid understanding of communication and network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP).
• At ease with Unix/Linux
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills
• Familiar with both SQL and noSQL databases (MySQL, DynamoDB, Memcached, Redis)
• Practical experience with scaling applications to big user numbers is a plus
• Experience with other programming languages is a plus.

Roles and responsibilities

• Develop well-designed performant and scalable applications and microservices
• Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code aligning to software development best practices
• Integrate data storage solutions including databases, key-value stores, blob stores, etc.
• Build integrations with 3rd party applications through apis’ to ingest and process data
• Develop state-of-the-art analytics tools to support diverse tasks ranging from ad hoc analysis to production-grade pipelines and workflows for customer applications
• Ensure security and data protection aspects within the applications
• Partner with Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers to improve the performance and reliability of advanced algorithms
• Ensure high performance and availability of distributed systems and applications
• Interact directly with client project team members and operational staff to support live customer deployments and production issues

• 4+ years of experience in developing applications using python and related technologies.
• Familiarity in data ingestion and processing libraries in python.
• Thorough understanding of REST and GRPC technologies.
• Experience in using ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries for data access.
• Experiencing in developing and hosting APIs and integration with external applications.
• Experience in building data models and repositories using relational and NoSql databases.
• Knowledge of JIRA, Bitbucket and agile methodologies.
• Good to have knowledge of AWS services like Lambda, dynamodb, kinesis and others.
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Familiarity with event-driven programming
• Strong unit test and debugging skills
• Affinity for learning and applying new technologies and solving new problems
• Effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Experience in working with docker is a plus
• Comfortable in working with Unix/Linux environment
• Strong communication skills — both written and verbal

• Built & managed backend systems from scratch previously.
• Lead the core backend engineering team, including mentoring, coaching, architecture, devops, code review and software infrastructure
• Should be more proficient with Django.
• Work with the executive team to shape and execute the product roadmap
