Android Developer Description

We’re looking for Android Mobile Application Developer who has solid knowledge of Android application’s life cycle, specially in modern mobile application. We need someone to build the native applications for Android using Java & Kotlin on Android Studio. You’ll need to create applications from scratch or configure the existing applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and implement applications from initial concept, app architecture, and user interface to finished deliverable.
Implement new features, enhancements, and content of existing applications.
Good knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen.
Create and update re-usable code libraries to streamline app development cycle.
Contribute to all phases of the product development: design, develop, test, maintain and improvise.
BASIC SKILLS:

Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of current Android development languages (Java & Kotlin).
Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Flexibility and eagerness to identify, learn, and use new and changing technologies.
Self confident and enthusiastic.

Experience

Min 2 to 4 years in developing Android applications in Java / Kotlin / C++ /Gradle/Groovy.

Worked on SDKs/Frameworks.

Strong understanding of software design patterns as well as Android specifics.

Experience with authenticated sessions using authentication tokens and have at-least

fundamental knowledge of app security.

Good to have:-

Experience with Cross-platform frameworks is a plus (React Native, Flutter, Cordova,

Xamarin).

Have implemented security standards and guides.

Experience building applications at scale.

Experience with third-party libraries and APIs like Mobile Vision, MLKit and/or

Camera API.

Good understanding of garbage collection, design patterns and continuously

discover, evaluate,and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general

reliability

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer (React Native) who will lead the development for Jackett's mobile apps. Each day you'll design, build and ship features that will directly improve teachers' lives. You will shape our product direction and technical architecture for the years to come.

You'll report directly to the CTO and partner closely with teams across product and design to build React Native apps for Android and iOS from scratch. And we'll work together to create an environment where you can grow professionally. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the architecture, development and implementation of our mobile app to enable the team to quickly iterate a high-quality product.
• Implement clean, modern, smooth animations and transitions that provide an excellent user experience.
• Implement pixel perfect Ul's that match the designs.
• Create our iOS and Android deployment CI/CD pipeline to ship reliable features daily.
• Engage in technical research and champion best practices for writing clean, maintainable and reusable code with clear documentation.
• Accurately estimate time and effort required to deliver high quality features.
  Required Skills/Abilities:
• 4 + years of experience as a software engineer.
• Built and shipped high-quality mobile apps (android and iOS) using React Native.
• Production-level experience with Mobile C l / C D , unit testing and automated E2E testing
• Proficiency working with RESTful APIs.  
• Ability to take extreme ownership of your work and to deal with high pressure situations in a fast paced environment and meet targets without compromising the quality of the deliverables.
• Product understanding to break down user stories into high impact features.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, especially for a remote first work environment   

Extra Credits for:

• Knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure - CodePipeline, Amplify, CDN etc.
• Knowledge of TypeScript.
• Knowledge of SCORM and Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) framework
• Experience of React Native development at an early stage EdTech startup

• Experience with building scalable applications using Flutter on android or IOS. (we are happy to meet you even if you do not know flutter but are willing to learn)
• Strong knowledge of Architectural pattern like Bloc, Provider etc in Flutter. Knowledge of writing Plugins in Flutter is a good to have skill
• Ability to think about scalability and reusability while developing flutter widgets.
• Experience in working with Dart.
• Knowledge of unit & integration testing, agile development process, jira & API integration will be extremely useful
• Strong UI building skills and the ability to handle updates in UI with high frequency data changes.
• Experience with version control systems (bitbucket, git etc.)
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• Should have demonstrated experience working on application development projects and test-driven development. Experience in writing high quality code
• Strong state management knowledge
• Experience in Fintech domain will be another added advantage

What you should have:

• At least three years of engineering experience, a large portion of which in a team environment
• Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms and programming languages
• Experience working closely with product teams, designers, and other developers to create a truly delightful mobile experience
• Familiarity with design concepts and constraints on mobile platforms.
• Extensive understanding of Android framework components and their respective lifecycles
• Experience developing highly performant Kotlin code and view layouts and the ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks
• A disciplined approach to development, testing, documentation and code structure in a team environment
• Familiarity with the Android tool ecosystem for development, testing, debugging, and performance benchmarking
• An excellent understanding of best practices for concurrency and threading
• MVVM design architecture pattern for android.

Preferred skills:

• Open Source contributions & participation in programs like Google Summer of Code are a plus.
• Have published one or more Android apps on the Play Store.
• Dependency injections: Dagger, Koin.
• Multi-threading and coroutines in Kotlin/Rxjava.

• 3-5 years of experience in Native Android App development (Preferably for a B2C Product)
• Proficiency in various algorithms and data structures.
• Familiar with Kotlin/Java language, and experience with Object-Oriented Design.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, storage databases, Multi-threading, performance and memory tuning.
• Good knowledge of architectural patterns such as MVP and MVVM.
