JOB DESCRIPTION:

Design and build application for iOS platforms

Writing well designed, testable, efficient code by using the best software development practices

Responsible for working on iOS frameworks, Xcode, Swift, Rxswift, Xcode SDK Platform tools

Responsible to work on bug fixing and improving application performance

Create and maintain software documentation

Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities

Mandatory skills:

• Proficient with Objective-C and Swift depending on project requirements and Cocoa Touch
• Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, etc.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end services

Secondary Skills:

• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
• Knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards
• Understanding of Apple's design principles and interface guidelines
• Experience with Version Control System
• Experience with Bug Tracking

Added advantage if the candidate possess below skills.

• Knowledge of low-level C-based libraries is preferred
• Experience with performance and memory tuning with tools such as Instruments and Shark, depending on project needs Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• Bluetooth communication, BLE
• Performance and Security related Concepts

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• Design and implementation of automotive applications
• Analysis of customer product requirements
• Review and investigate issues in code developed by peers
• Partner closely with customers and other Cerence teams to establish and maintain clear, concise communication through regular reporting, meeting participation, and follow-up
• Adopt underlying layers for Android Automotive to run on customer hardware

Education: Bachelor/Master in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

Minimum years of work experience: 4+ years of industry experience

Required skills:

• 4 + years’ software development experience, preferably for automotive and in connection with user interface technologies
• Experience using modern development processes/tools and developing through the complete Software Development Life Cycle
• Experiences in programing and scripting languages (JAVA, Python, Typescript)
• Experience with using source control tools like Git and CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins
• Experience working in / Knowledge of Agile/Scrum framework
• Experience in Android development
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
• Strong object-oriented analysis, design, and coding skills
• Fluent in English both written and spoken
• Strong team player and customer focus

Preferred skills:

• Good knowledge of Android Automotive platform
• Experience with VS Code
• Ability to set-up and hardware equipment in support of software development tasks (i.e. configure software on target device, connect cabling/power suppliers, etc.)

What you need to have:

• 3 to 6 years Android app development experience
• Hands on experience in developing high performance mobile applications
• Strong knowledge of Java,Kotlin,Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
• Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as touch
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometer
• Must have experience in BLE and BT
• Good understanding of unit, system and end to end testing and automation of mobile applications/ Android applications
• Familiarity with the MVC and MVVM design patterns
• Knowledge of the open-source ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
• Experience building, testing and distributing native apps that consume RESTful services
• Hands-on coding, systems analysis, design and delivery of projects assigned
• At least three native applications deployed in the play-store
• Proficiency in code versioning tools such as GIT

We are looking for an Android Developer who possesses a passion for pushing mobile technologies to the limits. This Android app developer will work with their US-based counterpart to design and build the next generation of our mobile applications. This job requires both Android System and UI development competence.

Responsibilities

Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features

Work with outside data sources and APIs

Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability

Work on bug fixing and improving application performance

Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

Requirements

BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject

Proven software development experience and Android skills development

Proven working experience in Android app development and

Have published at least one original Android app

Experience with Android SDK

Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON

Experience with third-party libraries and APIs

Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies

Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
