Android Developer

Job Overview:

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Android Developer with strong expertise in Kotlin to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of mobile development principles and will be responsible for delivering high-quality, accessible, and scalable Android applications.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin

·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development life cycle

·         Integrate RESTful APIs and third-party libraries into mobile applications

·         Ensure mobile applications meet accessibility and usability standards

·         Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement

·         Engage in the full software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing, build, deployment, and maintenance

·         Follow DevOps practices for CI/CD and automation

·         Apply methodologies such as BDD (Behavior-Driven Development), ATDD (Acceptance Test-Driven Development), and TDD (Test-Driven Development) in day-to-day development

·         Actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team meetings

·         Lead and influence key stakeholders when required

Required Qualifications & Skills:

·         5+ years of hands-on commercial software development experience in Android using Kotlin

·         BS/MS in Computer Science or related discipline

·         Solid understanding of software development principles and mobile platform limitations

·         Proven experience in building and publishing Android applications

·         Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration techniques

·         Deep understanding of mobile accessibility standards and implementation

·         Experience working in Agile/Lean environments

·         Exposure to DevOps models and CI/CD pipelines

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Strong team player with leadership potential

• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
• Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks

Technical skills:

1. Working experience in using the any of the design principles MVVM or MVP
2. Experience in using Web Services and SQLite data base
3. Experience in Multithreading  concepts – Rx JAVA
4. Experience in using version control systems like SVN, GIT Hub, Bitbucket etc
5. Experience in using Dependency injection principles in android
6. Experience in using design patterns
7. Experience integration with 3rd party API’s like Facebook, gmail, retrofit, Picasso & 3rd party libraries
8. Experience/Knowledge in using google Flutter

• 4+ years of mobile software development (iOS & Android).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Deep understanding and proficiency in building mobile apps from scratch using at least one mobile language (Swift, Java, Objective-C, etc.). Experience with multiple platforms is preferred.
• Desire and ability to expand expertise into additional mobile languages.
• Expertise in designing testable software and building large scale, complex applications.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
• Passionate about writing clean, well organized, and production-ready code.
• A portfolio of Apps or SDKs already built and in the App Store and Google Play.
• Desire to build a larger in-house team and manage a group of developers over time.
• Some management experience preferred.

Your responsibilities include:

• Work on the LOTR (Locus on the road) app which is native app in Android in a small team of 3 engineers
• Apart from the app, there is LOTR SDK also which is in nascent stage. The role would require building up the SDK as well
• Write maintainable code with around 80% unit test coverage. Do PR (pull request) review of fellow engineers on the app
• If you are adventurous - opportunity will be provided to work on the backend API to which the LOTR app/SDK will communicate to. Backend is in all java
• We have some created some cool stuff around selective app upgrade setup. Also, our app development process is under CI/CD so you don’t have to build & release app manually.

• 2 - 6 year experience as Android developer in a product based company
