About the Role

What You Will Do

• Drive technical direction for a significant product domain or platform capability, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs 
• Design and maintain data pipelines that increasingly feed AI systems (e.g., RAG ingestion, embeddings, vector stores), not just dashboards and reports 
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) as part of your own workflow, and help other engineers adopt them effectively 
• Reduce systemic complexity by identifying and leading architectural debt remediation, and develop strategies for ongoing technical debt management 
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to inform multi-quarter roadmap feasibility, and provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure successful implementation 
• Elevate engineering craft across multiple teams through RFCs, mentorship, and knowledge sharing, and develop training programs to improve engineering skills and knowledge 
• Represent Mitratech’s technical capabilities externally, including speaking at conferences, contributing to open-source projects, and engaging with industry peers and thought leaders 

 What We Are Looking For 

To be successful in this role, you will need: 

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on technical leadership and architecture 
• Deep understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, data warehousing, reporting, and data governance 
• Strong technical expertise in SQL, PostgreSQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, BI tools, and analytics platforms 
• Comfort using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a regular part of the engineering workflow 
• Practical experience with AI/LLM-adjacent data work — e.g., RAG ingestion pipelines, embedding generation, vector store management, or applying data quality and governance practices to data consumed by AI models 
• 5+ Years of experience on Ruby on Rails, React, and modern cloud platforms such as AWS 
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with product, engineering, analytics, and business teams 

Nice to Have 

• Experience with a semantic or metrics layer (e.g., dbt Semantic Layer, headless BI) 
• Experience with BI, reporting, dashboards, and customer-facing analytics 
• Understanding of CI/CD, Git-based workflows, and infrastructure-as-code 

The Stack Context 

• Modern data stack: Fivetran, Airbyte, dbt, Snowflake, GitHub, Terraform, or similar tools 
• Application context: Ruby on Rails, React, or similar backend/frontend frameworks 
• Data modeling: SQL, analytics models, documentation, testing, naming standards, and version control 
• Infrastructure: cloud-based data infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, monitoring, and cloud storage 
• Data workflows: ingestion, transformation, orchestration, reporting, deployment, and change management 
• Reporting focus: trusted metrics, scalable reporting models, dashboards, exports, and data quality 
• AI surface: data pipelines and quality practices supporting AI/LLM use cases (RAG, embeddings, vector stores) alongside traditional BI

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Design for Complex Enterprise Features
• Own the end-to-end design process for medium-to-large product initiatives—driving discovery, workflow definition, interaction design, and high-fidelity visual design and prototyping. Use AI-enhanced tools to accelerate exploration and iteration where appropriate.
• Shape Product Direction Through Deep Collaboration
• Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other designers in an agile environment to design accessible, performant, and elegant interfaces that balance user needs with technical and delivery constraints. 
• Create and Refine Design Deliverables
• Produce user flows, interaction models, prototypes, interface comps, visual specs, and supporting documentation across multiple enterprise products—using AI tools to streamline research synthesis, generate prototypes, and explore ideas more rapidly.

• Own and Advocate for the User Experience
• Take full ownership of the UX for your product areas and proactively advocate for users, ensuring their needs lead design decisions while aligning with the realities of our technology stack and component libraries.

• Apply Modern UX & UI and AI-Assisted Expertise
• Use up-to-date knowledge of design systems, interaction patterns, accessibility standards, responsive layouts, and front-end capabilities to elevate implementation quality and usability—along with AI-powered design and research tools—to elevate implementation quality, speed, and usability.

• Bring Clarity to Ambiguity
• Independently investigate complex problems, surface assumptions, validate solutions with stakeholders, and turn abstract challenges into actionable design direction. Use AI tools to accelerate insight-gathering and pattern detection.

• Influence Product Strategy
• Frame user problems, communicate trade-offs, and present design recommendations that shape product priorities and near-term roadmaps.

• Experiment with AI-Native Workflows
• Actively explore and experiment with AI-native workflows — including using Claude Code to generate and hand off production-ready code directly from design artifacts.

• Build and Scale AI Capabilities Across the Function 
• Build reusable AI skills and plugins that scale best practices across the design function, contributing to a shared toolkit that reduces manual effort and accelerates delivery.

• Partner Closely With Engineering
• Use tools like Claude, Figma Make, and Cursor to build interactive prototypes and provide clear, implementation-ready workflows. 

• Contribute to the Design System
• Improve and extend our design system to support consistency, scalability, and an efficient development pipeline across all product teams.

• Mentor and Elevate the Team
• Support other designers through critique, coaching, and knowledge-sharing, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and design excellence.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–8 years of UX/Product Design experience, preferably in enterprise SaaS environments.
• Expert understanding of UX processes, interaction design fundamentals, and end-to-end design workflows, including how AI is reshaping each stage of that process, from discovery through delivery 
• Strong portfolio demonstrating ability to design for complex systems, including examples of how AI tools were used to accelerate, enhance, or scale the work. 
• Strong foundation in traditional user research methods, with hands-on experience using AI throughout the research process, from study design and data gathering to synthesis and insight generation, to produce faster, more defensible product decisions. 
• Mastery of core design tools such as Figma, including AI-native features and integrations, and working knowledge of adjacent tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and Figma MCP that are increasingly part of the modern design-to-dev workflow.
• Deep experience with design systems, from consuming to contributing at scale, including exploring how AI can automate component generation and accelerate system maintenance.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to operate autonomously and manage multiple workstreams, including knowing when to apply AI to accelerate decisions and when human judgment and craft should lead. 
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern component libraries, with an ability to work alongside AI code generation tools to produce and review implementation-ready outputs.
• Ability to craft creative solutions while working within existing frameworks and constraints.
• Experience collaborating with and influencing US-based teams.

Education & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field preferred.
