Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow SAMPro Specialist to lead the architecture, implementation, and ongoing governance of our Software Asset Management (SAM) strategies. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in the ServiceNow SAMPro module and a strong understanding of complex software licensing models across global environments. You will be responsible for optimizing software spend, mitigating compliance risks, and automating the software lifecycle from procurement to retirement.
Key Responsibilities
Implementation & Architecture
Lead the end-to-end implementation, configuration, and enhancement of the ServiceNow SAMPro module.
Configure and maintain Publisher Packs (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, VMware, Adobe) to ensure accurate license position calculations.
Integrate SAMPro with external data sources, including ServiceNow Discovery, Microsoft SCCM, procurement platforms, and HR systems.
Design and implement automated workflows for software requests, approvals, harvesting, and allocations.
Asset Governance & Compliance
Manage software entitlements, contracts, and software models within the ServiceNow platform.
Conduct regular reconciliation and normalization of software inventory against purchased entitlements.
Proactively identify and remediate compliance gaps, shadow IT, and underutilized software assets.
Support internal and external software audits by providing accurate, timely compliance reporting and effective licensing positions (ELP).
Ensure software asset management processes align with global IT policies and regional compliance requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to provide leadership with visibility into software spend, compliance risks, and optimization opportunities.
Analyze software usage data to identify opportunities for license reclamation and cost savings.
Stay current with ServiceNow releases and industry trends, recommending platform upgrades and new SAM features to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Expertise
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of dedicated experience implementing and administering ServiceNow SAMPro in enterprise environments.
Certifications:
ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Software Asset Management (CIS-SAM) is highly preferred.
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) is required.
ITIL v4 Foundation or higher is a strong plus.
Licensing Knowledge: Deep understanding of complex vendor licensing models (e.g., Per Core, Named User, Concurrent, Processor-based) and cloud licensing structures (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS).
Platform Skills: Proficiency in ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and foundational ITSM processes.
Scripting: Basic to intermediate knowledge of JavaScript, GlideScript, and ServiceNow APIs for custom integrations and automated workflows.
Professional Competencies
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to parse complex vendor contracts and translate them into actionable ServiceNow configurations.
Communication: Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate technical compliance issues to non-technical business leaders and procurement teams.
Problem-Solving: Proven track record of independently troubleshooting normalization rules, reconciliation errors, and discovery anomalies.
