Kuldeep Sharma Curious about UX and Design

UX/UI is a term that has been floating around for 5-6 years now. Most of the Web Designers, Front-end Designers are now called UX/UI Designers. Although, UX has been around for as long as any design came into this world, it was not much talked about. It's in these last 5-6 years UX has been given importance over plain UI/Visual design.

Understanding UX/UI can be difficult but I would like a share an alternative method. Consider film-making, it has three stages - Pre-production, Production and Post-production. In software design, UX is like pre-production. It begin with gathering requirements, research, personas, data flows, wireframes, etc. This stage is to prepare for the product you are about to design. Then comes UI or the production stage. Here you create the mockups, the design using the structure you built in the UX stage. It utilizes skills like typography, colors, layout, etc. The main purpose is to create a visual interface to delight the user. Finally, the third stage is post-production which is again a part of UX. In this stage, you test you UX/UI design through various testing methods. The result data will be analysed again in the first stage of UX.

UX/UI is a cycle where you repetetively improve your product using the three stages. The successful products in market follow a strict iteraction cycle providing the user a better experience each time.

UX has gained popularity because it asks you to understand the human factor of the user and empathise with him. Provide a product with great experience. Learn from the mistakes, user feedbacks and repeat.

Hope, my answer helps you understanding the process. Would appreciate comments.
