About the Role

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our engineering team (currently 5 teammates). We're looking for someone who is an all-rounder, but has particularly exceptional backend engineering skills.

Our ideal candidate has built AI agents at the orchestration layer level and leveraged clever engineering techniques to improve latency & reliability for complex workflows.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to build state-of-the-art AI agents, and learn what it takes to build an industry-leading multimodal, multi-agent suite.

You'll wear many hats. Your responsibilities will fall into 3 categories:

AI Engineering

• Develop AI agents with a high bar for reliability and performance.
• Build SOTA LLM-powered tools for providers, practices, and patients.
• Architect our data annotation, fine tuning, and RLHF workflows.
• Live on the bleeding-edge ensuring that every week, we have the most cutting edge agents as the industry evolves.

Full-Stack Engineering (80% backend, 20% frontend)

• Lead the team in designing scalable architecture to support performant web applications.
• Develop features end-to-end for our web applications (Typescript, nodeJS, python etc).

Requirements

You do not need AI experience to apply to this role. While we prefer candidates that have some AI experience, we have hired engineers before that do not have any, but have demonstrated that they are very fast learners.

We prefer candidates who have worked as a founding engineer at an early stage startup (Seed or Preseed) or a Senior Software Engineer at a Series A or B startup.

Responsibilities :

• Design and develop user-friendly web interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Utilize modern frontend frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js to build dynamic and responsive web applications.
• Develop and maintain server-side logic using programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Node.js, or PHP.
• Build and manage APIs for seamless communication between the frontend and backend systems.
• Integrate third-party services and APIs to enhance application functionality.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment processes.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of web applications to ensure a high-quality user experience.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development processes and application performance.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors/master's in computer science or related subjects or hands-on experience demonstrating working understanding of software applications.
• Knowledge of building applications that can be deployed in a cloud environment or are cloud native applications.
• Strong expertise in building backend applications using Java/C#/Python with demonstrable experience in using frameworks such as Spring/Vertx/.Net/FastAPI.
• Deep understanding of enterprise design patterns, API development and integration and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Working knowledge in building applications that leverage databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Neo4J or storage technologies such as AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage.
• Hands-on experience in building enterprise applications adhering to their needs of security and reliability.
• Hands-on experience building applications using one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Working knowledge of CI/CD tools for application integration and deployment.
• Working knowledge of using reliability tools to monitor the performance of the application.

• Relevant Experience : Minimum 2 Years
• You have prior experience developing and working on consumer facing web/app products
• Hands-on experience on Python. Exceptions can be made if you’re really good on any other language with experience on building web/app based tech products
• Experience in at least one of the following frameworks - Django, Flask, Falcon, web2py, Twisted, Tornado
• Working knowledge of MySQL, MongoDB, Redis
• Good understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms and Operating Systems
• You've worked with core AWS services in the past and have experience with EC2, ELB, AutoScaling, CloudFront, S3
• You can dabble in Frontend codebases using HTML, CSS and Javascript

How you fit in

Engineering is the executional function of EAGLE's software delivery wing. As a server-side developer at Eagle, you will take the lead on implementing various software services of our core energy retail infrastructure. Not only are you expected to write clean, tested, and maintainable code, you will also be a central part of a product team that iterates constantly, ships regularly, and learns continuously. You will have the creative freedom for learning, experimenting, and responsible risk-taking in a startup environment.

What your role consists of:

• Develop enterprise-scale backend services using Golang

• Collaborate with engineers, UI/UX designers, and product owners to build & ship new features and maintain/enhance existing ones

• Independently come up with extensible low-level software design. Write modular, tested, readable and performant code

• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack

• Help inform product prioritisation and scoping decisions by evaluating technical complexity and risk

• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

• Maintain technical documentation

What you bring to this role:

• At least 1-3 years of demonstrated ability to rely on an iterative process to maintain momentum on projects in a distributed, collaborative, agile environment
• An ownership mindset: you should look not only at what you’re asked to do, but ask why you’re doing it and how it impacts on the rest of the product, our customers, and whether it makes sense
• Comfort with low-level engineering and ability to write efficient, performant and tested code
• Think deeply about systems and services and write high-quality code. We work mostly in Golang, with AWS Cloudformation. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skill than - knowledge of a particular language or framework.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Passion for the whole product process. You will have your specific areas of focus, but we find those that are passionate about the bigger picture collaborate best with cross-functional teams

Where we are

While the company is registered in the UK, the software delivery wing is built to be remote-first. Whether you prefer to be in situ or a digital nomad (or anything in between), you are welcome. We are not inclined to support relocation to London for candidates that are not already based there, as we are a remote-first company.

About EAGLE Power Holdings

In a nutshell: Transforming energy retail and supply through cutting-edge software and AI technology

The venture is in ‘stealth mode’ as we lay the foundations for blast-off. It has been launched by a team with a history of entrepreneurial successes. These include one in the climate change space which services the Californian and North America carbon markets, and another which provides highly refined machine learning software to the energy arena in Asia. Both companies were acquired last year. 

This start-up was launched in London at the end of 2020, and will focus on the deregulated energy market in GB. Job Responsibilities-

• Requirement gathering, UML & Database modelling and documentation

Requirements-

• BSc degree in Computer Science or similar relevant field
• Previous working experience as a MERN Stack Developer for 3+ years
• Experience with modern frameworks and design patterns
• In depth knowledge of NodeJS, ExpressJS or Restify
• Experience of implementing applications using Angular or React
• Experience for creating front end applications using HTML5, CSS3 Angular, LESS/SASS
• Hands on experience with JavaScript Development on both client and server-side
• Knowledge of Functional Testing regarding Unit Testing, Integration Testing & End-to-End Testing is required
• Strong knowledge of Testing tools is required with subject to Jest and Enzyme, React Testing Library, Puppeteer (or PhantomJS, Nightmare or Headless Chrome) and Selenium WebDriver
