Senior Java Developer

Key Responsibilities

● Technical Leadership: Lead the end-to-end development life cycle, from architectural

design to deployment and maintenance. You'll be responsible for the technical direction

of the project, making key decisions on technology stack and system architecture.

● Full Stack Development: Drive the development of both the front-end mobile

application and the back-end services. This includes building the user interface for

ASHA workers and the supporting APIs, databases, and a scalable cloud infrastructure.

● ML Ops & AI Integration: Oversee the integration of AI models into the application.

This involves setting up robust ML Ops pipelines for model serving, monitoring, and

continuous improvement.

● App Development: Lead the development of a user-friendly and highly efficient mobile

application optimized for low-cost Android smartphones. The app must be able to handle

image capture, local processing, and seamless data synchronization.

● Infrastructure & Deployment: Manage the deployment and ongoing operations of the

entire system. This includes setting up cloud infrastructure to support the application and

its data storage requirements.

● Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a small, agile team, collaborating closely

with product managers, AI researchers, and clinical experts to translate project goals

into technical solutions.

● Operational Excellence: Focus on the entire end-to-end operations of the application,

ensuring reliability, security, and scalability from the user's hands all the way to our data

servers.

● Digital Public Good: The platform must be developed in a manner that it can be

repurposed and used by groups independently for a similar purpose with limited

handholding.

Required Qualifications

● Experience: 5-8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong

background in developing and deploying scalable applications.

● Technical Skills:

○ Architecture: Demonstrated experience in architecture/ system design for scale,

preferably as a digital public good

○ Full Stack: Extensive experience with full-stack development, including mobile

app development and backend technologies.

○ App Development: Hands-on experience building and launching mobile

applications, preferably for Android.

○ Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization

technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

○ (Bonus) ML Ops: Proven experience with ML Ops practices and tools.

● Soft Skills:

○ Experience in hiring team members

○ A proactive and independent problem-solver, comfortable working in a fast-paced

environment.

○ Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior

engineers.

○ A strong desire to use technology for social good.

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience working in a startup or smaller team environment.

● Familiarity with the healthcare or public health sector.

● Experience in developing applications for low-resource environments.

● Experience with data management in privacy and security-sensitive applications.

About the role:

You will own a functional area - from product conception to its delivery to customers. You are expected to design and code independently in multiple tech components related to your functional area. You must also develop a deep understanding of non-functional requirements, such as reliability and availability, scale, horizontal scalability, etc. over time to make tech stack decisions accordingly. You are expected to actively mentor junior engineers. You own

the codebase quality.

What you’ll need

• B.Tech or M.Tech equivalent with at least 3 years of experience
• Deep expertise in at least one programming language & tech stack.
• Strong object-oriented design skills, ability to apply design patterns, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive module and class-level interfaces
• Experience in building data-driven web application design and development is a plus
• Good understanding of multiple tech solutions and ability to pick the correct one for the given situation
• Prior work experience in an agile environment or continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI or CD)
• Ability and experience in designing high-level software designs of the scalable system, taking NFR (non-functional requirement) into consideration

• You have experience with two or more development languages preferably Java or Python and React, etc 
• You can skillfully write high-quality, well-tested code and you are comfortable with Object-Oriented programming
• Comfortability with Agile methods, such as Extreme Programming (XP), Scrum and/or Kanban
• Bonus points if you have working knowledge of cloud technology such as AWS, Azure, Kubernetes and Docker

Mandatory skills:

Educational Qualification - B.E / B.Tech, MCA, M.Tech, or any equivalent IT graduation or post-graduation

• J2EE - Sprint Boot Microservices.
• At least 8+ years of experience in Java development (J2EE, J2SE 8).
• Extensive experience with Spring, Spring Boot Micro Services, JPA, Hibernate.
• Extensive experience in REST and SOAP Webservices Services.
• Excellent knowledge of databases( PostgreSQL, MySQL).

Requirements:

• 2+ years experience in a software development/consulting role, preferably in comprehensive eBusiness and Supply Chain Solutions
• 2+ years experience in Software Analysis, Design, and Development using J2EE technology stacks (Core Java, JSP, XML, Hibernate & Java scripts) and Oracle database (PL/SQL)
• 2+ years experience with the configuration and Installation of J2EE servers like Web logic, Web Sphere, and Oracle
• 2+ years experience with integration technology (knowledge of EAI and B2B tools)
• 2+ years working knowledge of UNIX system (Solaris and Linux)
• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
• Excellent interpersonal & planning skills and cross-group coordination at all levels
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent
• Willing to travel when needed.

Preferred (Optional) Skills:

• Supply-chain domain experience implementing and integrating Global Trade Management solutions
