Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive PLC engineer with good aptitude in programming.

Candidate should be flexible to work on PLC and eager to learn Embedded software in future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strong PLC programming skills in Functional Block Diagram, Ladder Programming, Structured Text and SFC

• Good knowledge of UML diagrams

• Good understanding of Communication protocols over Ethernet.

Good to have:

• Good Communication Skills and Exposure to international customer.

• Experience or knowledge in Software version control tools eg. Git, SVN, etc.

• Eager to learn Embedded C, Firmware development, etc.

• Providing solutions to issues related to the connection of networks and platforms

Education: BE / B.Tech- EEE/ECE/E&I/ Instrumentation and Control
Experience: 3-6 years in the graduates.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in Industrial Automation applications for manufacturing environment.

Domain knowledge: In areas of Industrial Automation technology tools – PLC/DCS/SCADA/HMI for Manufacturing in one or more of the following verticals: Chemicals, Glass, Construction products, Automotive, Abrasives, ceramics industries.

Requirements:

• To be part of Digital Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 projects across Saint Gobain group of companies
• Design and develop Industrial automation applications for discrete, process and hybrid Manufacturing
• Experience in working with various Automation OEM or systems Integrators- Rockwell/Siemens/Schneider
• Experience in providing the network architecture for connectivity of PLC/DCS/OPC/HMI for software integration
• Experience in Industrial automation tools- feature selection, product evaluation for cost effective solution
• Expertise in Industrial automation - Best Practices, Industry Standards and integration methodologies
• Experience in various SCADA platforms such as - GE Proficy, Wonderware, Siemens Win CC, RA Factory Talk
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to provide Industrial Automation solutions for Digital Manufacturing
• Part of end to end project of automation right from design to delivery of the project.

1. Developing HMI application in Qt or similar UI frameworks
2. Develop C++ or Rust backends for the HMI
3. Understand and optimize potential performance bottlenecks

WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT FOR THIS ROLE:

• Experience in automation technologies PLC programming, WinCC OA, Siemens TIA portal, and protocols OPC UA, plant simulation.

• Must have prior experience working with clients in requirements & should be independently able to lead these discussions.

• Candidate should be fluent in the agile delivery model with experience in working with any of an agile product management tool, preferably JIRA.

• Ability to guide the team on technical solutions, perform code reviews, and define integration strategy.

• Working experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.

• Ability to make and effectively communicate decisions. The candidate should know how to disagree, how to address opposition/rejection, how to navigate the conflicts in multistakeholder requirements, and how to build consensus.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential to communicate in a global team and with clients.

• It would be advantageous to have experience as an architect or technical leader while working in one or more of the following domains: manufacturing, industrial automation, heavy engineering, robotics, automotive, and consumer goods.

WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understanding functional requirements thoroughly and analysing the client’s needs in the context of the project

• Envisioning the overall solution for defined functional and non-functional requirements, and being able to define technologies, patterns, and frameworks to realize it.

• Determining and implementing design methodologies and tool sets

• Enabling application development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities.

• Being able to lead/support UAT and production roll outs.

• Creating, understanding, and validating WBS and estimated effort for given module/task, and being able to justify it.

• Addressing issues promptly, responding positively to setbacks and challenges with a mindset of continuous improvement

• Giving constructive feedback to the team members and setting clear expectations.

• Helping the team in troubleshooting and resolving of complex bugs

• Coming up with solutions to any issue that is raised during code/design review and being able to justify the decision taken.

• Carrying out POCs to make sure that suggested design/technologies meet the requirements
