Manager, Operations (E-commerce)

As an intern for the Artificial Intelligence business automation team, you will be focusing on researching and developing AI tools that automate some parts of our business automation. As business automation is important throughout the firm, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with teams across Springer. 

Role Summary

Provide hands-on leadership across data and analytics initiatives, helping drive execution, coordination, and delivery in a fast-moving, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Data & Analytics leadership to translate priorities into executable plans.

• Drive delivery across cross-functional teams (data engineering, analytics, platform).

• Manage dependencies, risks, and timelines in a complex enterprise setting.

• Act as a trusted execution lead during periods of rapid change.

• Strong experience in data and analytics programs in large enterprises.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in AWS Cloud services
• Strong experience with SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
• Hands-on programming experience in Python or pyspark.
• Working knowledge of Snowflake, including data modeling, performance tuning, and security configurations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Interns day to day responsibilities include:

• Do the quality check for the catalogue images as per Image guidelines, to review product catalogues based on category guidelines and ensure that delivered data is 100% accurate and complete with a positive impact on customer experience.

• Do frequent checks on existing processes to help the Catalogue team achieve more consistent results with high quality and to own new projects which will aim at achieving high productivity of an individual/team.

• Populate 100% accurate content from various sources (Brand Websites, E commerce Portals, Product info Pages, Seller’s, Consumers, Companies, Subject Matter Experts) for specific as well as general information about the product through various channels (Verbal & Written communication, through on ground activities as well as through various online search techniques).

*4+ years of software design and development experience.

• Experience with noisy and/or unstructured textual data.

• Strong coding ability with statistical analysis tools in Python or R, and general software development skills (source code management, debugging, testing, deployment, etc.)
• Working knowledge of various text mining algorithms and their use-cases such as keyword extraction, PLSA, LDA, HMM, CRF, deep learning & recurrent ANN, word2vec/doc2vec, Bayesian modeling.
• Strong understanding of text pre-processing and normalization techniques, such as tokenization,
• POS tagging and parsing and how they work at a low level.

• Masters or higher in data mining or machine learning; or equivalent practical analytics / modelling experience
