Java Backend Developer – Spring WebFlux

As an IC3 Software Development Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of scalable cloud services, healthcare business workflows, and AI-powered capabilities that improve operational efficiency for health plans and government programs.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software solutions associated with Oracle Health Insurance products. You will design, develop, test, and deploy software components while collaborating with cross-functional teams across product management, architecture, QA, and customer implementations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance OHI modules supporting enrollment, benefits, claims, and payments. 
• Build scalable microservices and APIs supporting payer workflows. 
• Contribute to healthcare payer platform capabilities and country-specific configurations. 
• Participate in AI and automation initiatives leveraging LLMs and agent-based solutions. 
• Develop integrations using healthcare standards and EDI transactions. 
• Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement initiatives. 
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to deliver high-quality software. 

Mandatory Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field. 
• 4-6 years of software engineering experience. 
• Strong programming skills in Java and/or Python. 
• Experience with REST APIs and distributed systems. 
• Strong SQL and database fundamentals. 
• Experience with cloud technologies (OCI, AWS, or Azure). 
• Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented design. 
• Experience working in Agile development environments. 
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing. 
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools and modern developer productivity technologies. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare payer domain knowledge. 
• Exposure to claims processing, enrollment, benefits administration, or provider payments.

• Experience with GenAI, prompt engineering, or AI agents.

About the role:

You will own a functional area - from product conception to its delivery to customers. You are expected to design and code independently in multiple tech components related to your functional area. You must also develop a deep understanding of non-functional requirements, such as reliability and availability, scale, horizontal scalability, etc. over time to make tech stack decisions accordingly. You are expected to actively mentor junior engineers. You own

the codebase quality.

What you’ll need

• Experience in building data-driven web application design and development is a plus
• Good understanding of multiple tech solutions and ability to pick the correct one for the given situation
• Prior work experience in an agile environment or continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI or CD)
• Ability and experience in designing high-level software designs of the scalable system, taking NFR (non-functional requirement) into consideration

Core Focus:

• Operate with a full DevOps mindset, owning the software lifecycle from development through production support.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and global team collaboration, including on-call support.

Mandatory/Strong Technical Skills (6–8+ years of relevant experience required):

• Java: 4.5 to 6.5 years experience
• AWS: Strong knowledge and working experience with Cloud technologies minimum 2 years.
• Kafka: 2 years of Strong knowledge and working experience with data integration technologies
• Databases: Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, MongoDB).

We are seeking an experienced Java Back-end Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate

will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable back-end

solutions using Java and related technologies. The Back-end Developer will work closely with

cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet our business needs.

Responsibilities:

 Design, develop, and maintain Java-based back-end applications, services, and APIs.

 Write efficient, reusable, and well-documented code following industry best practices

and coding standards.

 Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to

understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

 Implement and maintain database schemas, write complex SQL queries, and optimize

database performance using Oracle SQL.

 Develop and consume RESTful web services to enable seamless integration with

external systems.

 Utilize Spring framework and its various modules (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Batch) for

building enterprise-level applications.

 Manage project dependencies and build processes using Maven.

 Work with version control systems such as Git for code management and collaboration.

 Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging to ensure the quality and

reliability of back-end components.

 Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in back-end

development.

Additional Requirements:

 Strong knowledge of application servers such as Tomcat and WebLogic.

 Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.

 Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit.

 Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth.

 Knowledge of SOAP web services and related technologies.

Requirements:
