Roles & Responsibilities

What You'll Do

•    Design and build the core Node.js services and REST APIs from scratch, built to scale as we grow.

•    Own system design end to end: service boundaries, data flow, caching, queueing, failure modes, and scale.

•    Ship AI/ML-powered features, including LLM and agentic capabilities.

•    Use LLMs and agentic tooling across the SDLC, from design and code generation to testing and debugging.

•    Model data and optimize SQL/NoSQL queries for performance; integrate with third-party platforms.

•    Debug production issues, own reliability, and set the engineering standards the rest of the team will grow into.

Ideal Candidate

1.Strong Backend Node.js Developer Profile

2.Mandatory (Experience 1) – Must have 6+ years of hands-on Backend Engineering experience using Node.js building production-grade systems for B2C products at meaningful consumer scale

3.Mandatory (Experience 2) – Must be AI-native in their own engineering workflow: already uses LLMs and agentic tooling across the SDLC, from design and code generation through testing and debugging

4.Mandatory (Experience 3) – Must have owned backend architecture end to end, including greenfield builds. Should be able to make early architecture calls and reason clearly about service boundaries, data flow, caching, queueing, failure modes, scalability, and reliability trade-offs under real constraints.

5.Mandatory (Experience 4) – Must have a solid understanding of backend fundamentals, including API development, service-oriented architecture, data structures, algorithms, and clean coding practices

6.Mandatory (Experience 5) – Must have experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs and backend services, including integrations with external systems and third-party platforms

7.Mandatory (Experience 6) – Must have strong experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), including efficient data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning

8.Mandatory (Company) – Must have worked in B2C product companies / startups at meaningful consumer scale. (WealthTech, FinTech, or high-growth consumer product background is highly preferred)

9.Mandatory (Stability) – Must have a stable career history, with consistent tenure across previous companies; frequent job-hopping will not be considered

10.Mandatory (AI Product) – Must have experience building and shipping products that use LLMs and agentic workflows to end users.

11.Mandatory (Compensation Alignment) – Candidate must be comfortable with the compensation structure where the company matches their current CTC and provides ESOPs, without any salary hike.

13.Mandatory (Note1) – Seed-funded WealthTech startup. Candidate must be comfortable in an early-stage, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

14.Mandatory (Note2) – Founding tech team role. Work from office, 6 days a week. Candidate must be willing to own the backend end to end and set engineering standards

15.Preferred (College) – Tier1 engineering college is a plus plus

16.Preferred (Note) – Previous founding engineer or early-team startup experience is a plus.

Skills required – Angular, ionic

What you'll do:

• Perform complex application programming activities with an emphasis on mobile development:  Angular, ionic, Node, TypeScript, JavaScript, Apache Cordova, RESTful APIs and more
• Assist in the definition of system architecture and detailed solution design that are scalable and extensible
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and other engineers on different permutations to find the best solution possible
• Own the quality of code and do your own testing. Automate feature testing and contribute UI testing framework
• Become a subject matter expert for our mobile applications
• Deliver amazing solutions to production that knock everyone’s socks off
• Mentor junior developers on the team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient with Apache Cordova framework
• Built or maintained custom Cordova plugin
• Demonstrable knowledge of native coding background in iOS
• Understanding of Apple certificate and profile management
• Experience developing and deploying applications within Kubernetes based containers
• Experience in Agile and SCRUM development techniques

Python server development using Django, Flask, or other python frameworks.

Experience working with and building RESTful APIs.

Ability to write unit-tested and maintainable code.

Expertise in cloud platforms (preferable AWS: both traditional EC2 and serverless Lambda), micro-services architecture.

Experience with API security frameworks, token management and user access control including OAuth, JWT, etc.

Understanding of caching strategies and implementation (Redis, Memcache, etc.)

‍Expected to manage the product plan, engineering, and delivery of Plum Integration activities. Plum is a rewarding and incentive infrastructure for businesses. It's a unified integrated suite of products to handle various rewarding use cases for consumers, sales, channel partners, and employees. 31% of the total tech team is aligned towards this product and comprises 32 members within Plum Tech, Quality, Design, and Product management. The annual FY 2019-20 revenue for Plum was $ 40MN and is showing high growth potential this year as well. The product has a good mix of both domestic and international clientele and is expanding. The role will be based out of our head office in Bangalore, Karnataka however we are open to discuss the option of remote working with 25 - 50% travel.‍

• Define a process for maintaining a healthy engineering culture (Cadence for one-on-ones, meeting structures, HLDs, Best Practices In development, etc.).

• Manage a senior tech team of more than 5 direct and 10 indirect developers.
• Should have experience in handling e-commerce applications at scale.
• Should have experience working with applications like HubSpot salesforce and other CRM.
• Should have experience in B2B integrations.
• Should have at least 10+ years of experience in software development, agile processes for international e-commerce businesses.
• Should be extremely hands-on, with an Automate as much as possible mind set full-stack developer.
• Should exhibit skills to build a good engineering team and culture.
• Should be able to handle the chaos with product planning, prioritizing, customer-first approach.
• Technical proficiency

‍You will lead the Plum Integration Engineering team and work in close conjunction with the Tech leads of Plum with some cross-functional stake with other products. Your will report to the CTO directly.
