Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced ETL Tester / Data QA Engineer with strong SQL skills to validate data pipelines, ETL processes, data transformations, and data quality across source and target systems. The candidate should have hands-on experience in writing complex SQL queries, performing data validation, and identifying data discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform ETL testing for data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
• Validate data between source and target systems.
• Write and execute complex SQL queries for data validation and reconciliation.
• Verify data transformations, mappings, joins, aggregations, and business rules.
• Perform data completeness, accuracy, consistency, integrity, and duplicate checks.
• Validate incremental and full data loads.
• Test ETL workflows, batch jobs, and data pipelines.
• Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as JIRA.
• Analyze production data issues and support root-cause analysis.
• Prepare test scenarios, test cases, test data, and execution reports.
• Work closely with developers, data engineers, business analysts, and other QA teams.
• Participate in regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.

• Good understanding of SDLC/STLC and defect life cycle.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of tools such as Databricks, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or dbt.
• Experience with API testing or data pipeline automation.

We’re looking for a full-stack developer to own the technical build of the Sthira platform — not a task-based freelancer, but someone who takes primary ownership of the codebase and architecture while working directly alongside the founder (non-technical support on product, content, and testing).

About the Role

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a core member of the development

team, participating across the full development lifecycle. This role translates business and functional

requirements into deliverables, designs and maintains test automation frameworks, and ensures

automated tests are integrated into the continuous delivery pipeline. The Sr. SDET develops high-

quality, maintainable, and performant test code, consults on test automation strategy, and serves as

a leader and coach across teams to influence quality practices and standards

What You’ll Do

 Design, develop, and maintain automation systems and tools to be used by development

and test engineers.

 Analyze code coverage using industry-standard tools (e.g., SonarQube).

 Oversee integration of automated tests into the Continuous Delivery pipeline.

 Design and author test cases for unit, functional, performance, scalability, and durability

testing.

 Manage and groom automated and manual test suites for balanced coverage and fast

feedback cycles.

 Work with IT partner teams to provide, create, or modify test data through repeatable,

automated processes.

 Provide internal training on testing skills and tools; contribute to the Test Community of

Practice to evolve testing practices and standards.

 Lead defect management and interface with external teams on test strategy and execution.

 Ensure requirements and/or user stories are testable and provide estimates for user stories

and tasks.

 Coordinate with Dev and Ops regarding testing practices to ensure quality thresholds are

met.

 Contribute to design and code reviews.

 Perform other duties and projects as assigned by business management.

What You’ll Bring (Must have skills)

 Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

 4–7 years of experience using three or more development languages (e.g., C#, Java,

JavaScript).

 Any Monitoring or Observability Tools - Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus,

Grafana, SolarWinds.

 4–7 years of experience with three or more automation tools (e.g., Selenium, TestNG,

Appium, Sauce Labs, Rest Assured, Postman, Cucumber, Jasmine, Protractor).

 4–7 years of experience with testing methodologies such as Test-Driven Development (TDD)

and Behavior Driven Development (BDD), API Testing, Acceptance Testing, end to end

testing.

 4–7 years of experience using issue-tracking software and Agile project management

systems (JIRA)

 Proficiency with SQL (querying, joins, stored procedures), Knowledge of NoSQL databases

(MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.) – Any database
