Job Title: Lead Backend Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on QA leader to own quality across our products. You'll set the QA strategy, build and scale our automation and testing infrastructure, and lead a growing team — while staying close enough to the work to dig into a tricky bug yourself. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to define how quality is done, not just execute test cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 backend engineers, ensuring high-quality code delivery, adherence to best practices, and timely project completion.
• Hands-on development using TypeScript, Node.Js, and NestJs to build robust and scalable backend systems.
• Proficient in managing databases PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Implement efficient data storage and retrieval strategies.
• Expertise in Elasticsearch
• Work with Neptune and Gremlin to handle complex data structures and relationships.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and maintain high-quality software.
• Work closely with frontend teams, designers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration and alignment with business goals.
• Plan, track, and report on project progress. Manage resources effectively to meet deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Node.Js, PostgreSQL and JavaScript
• Strong experience in architecture and database design.
• Proven experience leading a team of engineers.

Role

• Develop & maintain shared APIs, libraries and frameworks
• Improve the performance and reliability of our services including databases, CI/CD pipeline, web services, and other integrations
• Monitor and scale our cloud infrastructure
• Collaborate with other teams on security, automation, and internal tools
• Evaluate and develop new tools and technologies that can help achieve company-level goals

Required Candidate profile

• 4 - 8 years of experience in Development.
• Should have good knowledge of backend Technologies like Python, Nodejs, Golang.
• Should have worked with Databases like Mysql, monogdb etc.
• Should have working experience in cloud environment.
• Engineering degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline from good institutes

• Python. Django Rest Framework experience would be great, but not essential! We prioritise
• quality over quantity.
• Postgres with InfluxDB, Oracle, MySQL and Redis experience a plus.
• Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift and associated tooling.
• AWS, especially ECS, Lambda, RDS and DynamoDB. Performance and uptime are super
• important to us.
• The challenge of scaling a global, distributed API to 10,000+ requests per second.
• We have SDKs in a bunch of languages, so the more polyglot you are the better.
• If you like writing JS and React that would be awesome too.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality applications. They will also be responsible for designing and implementing testable and scalable code.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
• Development experience with programming languages
• MongoDb database or relational database skills

You will be building efficient, scalable & high performance microservices and applications which will power the network of thousands of retailers across the country and at the same time improve the efficiency and visibility of information flow in our supply chain systems.

Your core responsibilities:

• Create elegant, efficient and maintainable software to support and extend our current products.
• Solve complex architectural challenges when implementing new features.
• Integrate with databases, file systems, cloud services when delivering scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and fix reported customer issues, delivering software patches as needed.
• Assisting in making design decisions based on performance, scalability, security, and future expansion.
• Communicating and collaborating with management, product, QA teams.

What will help you thrive in this role?

• Degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer.
• Proficiency in web development using any of the languages: PHP, Python, Java, NodeJS or Golang.
• Should possess a solid grasp of object-oriented programming, system architecture & design, databases, development, and testing methodologies.
• Good in Design (HLD and LLD).
• Good in Database schema design.
• Good to have experience with AWS or Google Cloud or Azure and serverless architecture.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Track record of delivering successful products as an engineer.
• Experience with large applications of some scale will be a plus.
• Ability to deep dive, understand & improve the legacy code.
• Domain knowledge of supply chain & retail industry is a plus.
