Backend Engineer - Java/Scala/Distributed System/NoSQL

Role Overview

We are seeking a technically strong Java Support Engineer who combines solid development knowledge with a passion for support and operational excellence. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Angular, along with a strong understanding of application engineering concepts, and must be comfortable working in a production support environment handling incidents, troubleshooting, monitoring, and system stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production support for enterprise applications.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues within defined SLAs.
• Analyze logs, identify root causes, and implement fixes or workarounds.
• Collaborate with development teams for permanent issue resolution.
• Monitor application health, performance, and availability.
• Support deployments, releases, and environment validations.
• Perform minor code fixes and enhancements when required.
• Document issues, solutions, and support procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotations and handle incident management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Working knowledge of Angular for frontend understanding.
• Good understanding of application architecture, APIs, microservices, and debugging techniques.
• Experience with log analysis tools, monitoring tools, and ticketing systems.
• Knowledge of SQL databases and query troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
• Understanding of CI/CD, release processes, and version control (Git).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 1+ years of exposure to the architecture and design (design patterns, security, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• Bachelors/Masters degree in computer science or other related fields
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java or Python including object-oriented design
• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Proven ability to take initiative and dive into new areas of technology.
• Passion for learning, analysing technology trade-offs and shipping products.
• Knowledge on SQL, NOSQL databases and AWS deployments is a plus
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
• Ability to work well with people and be both highly self motivated and motivating

Job Description:

· Implement a robust set of services and APIs to power the back-end application

Skill Set Required:

· Experienced in NodeJs or any NodeJS frameworks

· Experienced & Good knowledge of Relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)

· Exposure to Cloud Environments like AWS, MS Azure or Google Cloud

· Knowledge of an interest in Agile Methodologies, such as Extreme Programming (XP) and Scrum

· Knowledge of software best practices, like Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI)

• 4+ years of professional development experience in an agile software engineering role
• Strong development skills in Java or Groovy
• Experience with Jenkins, bamboo and CI/CD environments
• Familiarity with Guice or similar dependency injection frameworks
• Familiarity with relational database technology
• Familiarity with document store database technology such as ElasticSearch or Cassandra
• Experience with design and testing of RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with cross platform development on Linux, OSX and Windows
• Strong understanding of Git version control system
• Knowledge of JavaScript (Node.js)
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes
• Experience with continuous integration and build systems such as Jenkins or Bamboo

• Build data pipelines for structured/unstructured, real-time/batch, events/synchronous/asynchronous using MQ, Kafka, Steam processing using Java / Python
• Design the Data stores for Big Data systems with expertise in Cassandra, HBase
• Implementation of Indexing and Search using Elasticsearch
• Setup and Deployment of Cassandra, Elasticsearch clusters

• Strong hands-on experience with Cassandra, data modeling, data replication, clustering, indexing for handling for large data sets
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL, relational database design, and methods for efficiently retrieving data for Time Series Analytics
• Strong understanding of CQL, Data Modeling in-order to achieve highly performant data access
• Strong experience in data modeling in Cassandra to design efficient storage model to meet variety of business needs
• Should have Elasticsearch skill with significant experience working with large Elasticsearch clusters, cluster performance optimisation, capacity planning, enhancing monitoring capabilities for early issue detection, driving operational readiness and ongoing maintenance
• Strong hands-on experience of programming with Java / Python
• Ability to troubleshoot and investigate stability, performance issues

• Good academic qualifications
• Experience in developing web applications using Java, Spring, Hibernate, DWR, JSP
• Knowledge in Oracle Database concepts
