Your Impact

We are looking for a Hands-on software developer with strong hands-on experience in backend technologies (Node.js) who can lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.

Engineers who can combine technical depth with strategic product thinking. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with modern backend stacks, brings strong critical thinking to the table, and can balance short-term delivery with long-term technical vision. 

• Stay updated with evolving AI technologies and encourage the team to leverage AI tools effectively to improve development efficiency and innovation.
• Build and provide technical direction and architectural guidance for backend services and APIs.
• Design, implement, and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and efficient retrieval. 
• Implement the core logic that makes applications work, handling data processing, user requests, and system operations. 
• Contribute actively to system architecture, proposing enhancements and leading design discussions for new features and services.
• Working closely with product managers and designers to turn ideas into reality and shape the product roadmap. 
• Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and security 
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and frameworks, Drive planning, prioritization, and timely delivery of engineering initiatives.
• Drive code quality through writing unit tests, documentations and conducting code reviews.
• Take ownership of end-to-end feature development — from design to deployment and monitoring.

What skills do you need? 

• Extensive (Must have) hands-on experience in JavaScript / TypeScript, backend development using Node.js and Express.js, and database management with MySQL.
• Strong command of JavaScript and understanding of its quirks and best practices
• Exposure to system design and interest in building scalable, high-availability systems.
• Experience from a high-growth product-based startup is a must-have.
• Ability to think strategically when designing systems—not just how to build, but why
• Prior work on B2C applications with a focus on performance and user experience
• Knowledge of Sequelize, MongoDB, and AWS would be an advantage.

Experience: 6 to 10 Years

Must have:

• Experience in leading teams and handling communication among engineers and product managers,and have worked with mobile teams and product teams.
• Experience working on RFC documentation.
• Experience in architecting the software, estimating tasks, breaking down into subtasks, prioritizing tasks as per need, and timely delivery.

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of RESTful JSON web API design principles.
• Demonstrable experience with NodeJS, Express. JS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• Familiarity with popular NodeJS packages (e. g. express, socket-io).
• Must have experience with test driven development(TDD).
• Experience in JavaScript development.
• Experience in backend web development.
• Containerisation experience working with Docker/ Kubernetes/ Docker Swarm
• Familiarity with multiple additional programming languages/stacks.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, ideally MongoDB.

Our core customer-facing product today is a native Android application. In addition to this, we are building internal tools for customer support, investment management, marketing analytics and business management. In the future, we plan to hugely expand the features in our core product, build iOS and web products, and continuously improve our internal tools to better serve our customers.

For our back-end, we use Node.js / MySQL / AWS. We are currently a 3-member engineering team (1 back-end, 1 Android, 1 full stack) led by our founding engineer and advised by a senior technology executive from a leading fintech company.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve our software applications
• Build reusable libraries and frameworks that support complex web applications
• Set-up our technology infrastructure and integrate with 3rd party applications
• Contribute to internal discussions around product features, roadmap and technologies used
• Mentor & recruit engineers to the team
• Set up processes related to engineering & product

Skills / Required Experience:

• B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent, with solid foundational knowledge in at least two general programming languages, data structures, algorithms, system architecture, security and networking protocols.
• At least 6 years of back-end development experience in a software product company is required for this role.
• Exposure to modern software development processes, multiple front-end and back-end technologies, and open-source software.
• Proficiency with tools like Gitlab/Jira/Firebase, as well as AWS and commonly used database systems etc. is required
• Experience in an early-stage startup or having founded your own startup would be good to have (but not necessary).

• Minimum 2 years experience on MEAN Stack
• Extensive hands-on experience in Node JS/Express/Hapi JS, Moleculer and NoSQL DBs (Mongodb and Redis are preferred)
• Strong coding and designing skills
• Working understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment concepts and tools such as (Gitlab CI/CD), Development tools (Git), Application Servers (nginx, Apache)
• Experience in consuming and developing secure RESTful API/web-services
• Comfortable using Unix / Linux machines from command prompt
• As a full-stack architect in the team, you'll bring your ideas to life on a technology stack of Node JS and NoSQL Databases among others.
• We are looking for tech geeks who are hands-on and in love with building scalable, distributed and large web / mobile products.
• You must be an excellent problem solver with passion to self-learn and implement backend technologies
• You would be responsible for the architecture design, code review and technology build and deployment activities of web/mobile applications.
• Own the product development from scratch - Architect scalable, distributed and large scale web and mobile solutions from scratch
• You would be responsible for writing SRS and require strong technical writing and communication skills
• You would be responsible for managing and mentoring your team members and help them advance in their learning and career goals
• Ensure test driven development (TDD) methodologies are deployed to execute project
• Define and ensure right coding practices
• Code for fresh development and to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Lead web development efforts, including hiring, mentoring and advising peers

1. 7+ Years’ of experience, managing teams of 5+ people
2. Must have excellent programming, debugging and scripting skills with a solid understanding of Object Oriented Design principles.
3. Proficiency in at least two of the following: Java, NodeJS, Go, JavaScript, Python programming stacks, and passion for software engineering and craftsman-like coding prowess
4. Knowledge of software practices like refactoring, clean code, domain driven design, Encapsulation etc
5. Hands on experience managing databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis.
6. Exposure to event driven systems and event streaming engines like Kafka
7. Good knowledge of DevOps tooling like docker, kubernetes, ansible/chef, AWS.
