Back End Developer

We are looking for a PHP Developer to help us go global by building a world-class product.

spynPRO is a SAAS product for academy owners, event organizers and facility owners to manage and grow their business.

About our Engineering Department

We build new features on top of a stack using YII2 framework, consisting of web apps communicating through APIs, backed by MySQL databases and currently using Cordova for our Android and iOS apps
We don’t follow rigid Scrum or Kanban, but we do work in an agile, iterative way – we deploy changes multiple times a week to production and try to continuously improve and implement what works for us.

Here are some things you’ll be doing in the role (but not limited to):

Writing code, code reviews, fixing bugs, optimising server response, etc.
Understanding the problems to be solved, and breaking these down into small, actionable tasks.
Learning and helping others

So, what are we specifically looking for?

About 1-4 years experience in PHP framework, including both successes and failures, which help you make better decisions.
Good working knowledge of PHP MVC Frameworks, MySQL & HTML/CSS.
Significant experience in working on major systems in one or more languages: ideally you’ve built REST API endpoints on top of data storage layers, and understand concepts like authentication, caching, web security, and the way that frontends consume APIs.

What are we currently working on?

1. Developing a new webapp Workpod in Yii2 framework
2. Adding new features to existing product spyn
3. Developing cordova apps for above 2 products

• Strong experience in building UI and Backend process, APIs using PHP and CI technology stack
• Excellent knowledge and experience of CodeIgniter CI
• Good core knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and Bootstrap
• Good knowledge and experience in MySQL
• Good experience in the build and deployment process

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field.
• Knowledge of PHP web frameworks including Laravel, and CodeIgniter.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, and HTML5.
• Understanding of object-oriented PHP programming.
• Previous experience creating scalable applications.
• Proficient with code versioning tools including Git, Mercurial, CVS, and SVN.
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Ability to project manage.
• Good problem-solving skills.

Back End development of websites and applications using PHP,
AJAX and JS and their frameworks to create and integrate
functional web standard projects. Taking ready HTML/CSS files
from front end developers and executing the project based on the
logic and wireframes provided by designers

Solid knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JSON, and XML
● Proven experience building data-driven web

1. Should have experience in full life cycle of Web Application Development in Linux environment using Apache, PHP, MySQL/MSSQL/ Oracle.

2. Hands on experience in these technologies is a must (PHP 5, Ajax, CSS / HTML5 / XHTML , Web development)

3. Should have experience in template engine like smarty and at least one MVC frame work (Laravel / Zend / Symphony / Cake Php / Code Igniter).

4. Should have worked on any of the content management system (Joomla / Drupal / Simple CMS etc)

5. Should have worked on any of one of JS frameworks like YUI, JQuery , MooTools, ExtJS and AJAX

6. Hands on experience with the following PHP modules: PEAR, CURL, SoapClient (WSDL mode), libXML, Memcache, PCRE, SQLITE, etc

7. Ability to write and consume SOAP & REST web services.

8. Create requirement document and work with team members to deliver the application.

9. Knowledge of Version Control Software ;such as SVN/CVS will be preferable.

10. Experience in Architecture Design & Developed of Web Application.

11. Should have experience in web application optimization/caching/DB performance tuning

12. Extensive OOD / OOP experience

13. Ability to propose, advocate and critique design alternatives to determine solutions.

14. Hands-on experience with web application architecture and relational database design Interact with Client to understand business requirement.

15. Hands on knowledge of best practices for cross-platform, cross-browser compatibility.

16. Hands on knowledge of UI optimization techniques and experience of working with UI performance measurement tools like Yslow, Firebux, Fiddler, HTTPWatch, Page Speed, DynaTrace, etc.

• Strong understanding of PHP back-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins plus customizing them.
• Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial)
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
