Summary:

 

Smart Joules is looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive the evolution of our technology platform (DeJoule) to make continuous energy optimization simple and profitable at scale. DeJoule is designed on the latest IOT and web technologies to continuously identify and correct for hidden inefficiencies in dynamic energy systems such as air conditioning and compressed air. It 1) collects data in real time from buildings and factories, 2) analyses real time and historical data using heuristic and machine learning algorithms to find hidden energy inefficiencies and optimum set points, and 3) continuously adjusts (controls) set points of various equipment installed in buildings and factories to minimize energy use. We are looking to build new capabilities in data-driven intelligence, user delight, universal compatibility and continuous optimization through full automation.

 

You will engage deeply with Smart Joules’ leadership and management team and customers to connect our software and its capabilities to our mission. The technology we build together will save 30% or more of the energy consumed in India’s most prominent buildings and factories that stand today and are yet to be built, and will displace the largest multi-nationals as the highest selling automation product in the Indian and other developing markets.

The Right Candidate:

• Has 7+ years of experience building IOT & cloud technology platforms with mastery in System Design and Architecture, Database Administration, Data Structuring and Algorithms, Javascript frameworks (Angular.js, Node.js), AWS managed services (SNS,SQS, IoT core, Dynamo DB, Lambdas, Kinesis and others), Python and related technologies.
• Is humble and collaborative, with a deep-seated ambition to have a significant impact at a global scale.
• Has worked in a start-up or in start-up-like conditions with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.

Technical Project Manager
Location: Okhla, Delhi

Summary:
Smart Joules’ product DeJoule is an IoT based Building Energy Management System. It hasthe
potential to save more than 5,000 Crores worth of energy annually by optimizing energy use
in central air conditioning systems, and much more by extending in future to hot water and
steam systems.

Smart Joules is looking for people who have the aptitude, expertise and experience of managing the delivery of projects.

Reporting:
You will report to the Head of Product.

What will you do?
1. Manage the on-time & high-quality execution of multiple, complex and diverse
initiatives/ projects that are designed to improve the product.
2. Focus on & be responsible for getting the initiatives executed on timelines committed
to the stakeholders
3. Own the planning, scoping, tracking, reporting budgeting and on-time delivery of the
initiatives/ projects.
4. Empower the team members of each initiative to successfully deliver it with
a. it being highly functional
b. having high quality
c. adherence to the decided standards of software engineering, coding &
documentation
d. it completing on time
e. it consuming resources under budget.
5. Optimize and push the game in efficiently, quickly and economically executing the
initiatives/ projects.
6. Effectively win the confidence of the stakeholders by giving them the right information
at the right time.
7. Own the effective resolution of any roadblock that might defeat the plan of the
initiative.
8. Proactively seek help and raise flags when and where needed.

What do we need in you?
Being able to strategically, diligently & resourcefully plan and execute a technical
project.
Have the experience in managing a varied set of stakeholders ranging from product
management, software development, UiUx, co-founders and users.
Have owned and successfully delivered projects on time and under budget for at-least 2
years.
Knows & has hands-on experience in the best processes (Agile, Scrum, Hybrid) & tools
(Jira, Confluence) to manage work.
Must have excellent attention to detail, ability to identify key issues and manage an
environment of innovation with regular changes.
Excellent communication skills.
Organizational abilities, strategic thinking, problem-solving aptitude.

Responsibilities:

• Exploring and visualizing data to gain an understanding of it, then identifying differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the model in the real world.
• Verifying data quality, and/or ensuring it via data cleaning.
• Able to adapt and work fast in producing the output which upgrades the decision making of stakeholders using ML.
• To design and develop Machine Learning systems and schemes. 
• To perform statistical analysis and fine-tune models using test results.
• To train and retrain ML systems and models as and when necessary. 
• To deploy ML models in production and maintain the cost of cloud infrastructure.
• To develop Machine Learning apps according to client and data scientist requirements.
• To analyze the problem-solving capabilities and use-cases of ML algorithms and rank them by how successful they are in meeting the objective.

Technical Knowledge:

• Worked with real time problems, solved them using ML and deep learning models deployed in real time and should have some awesome projects under his belt to showcase. 
• Proficiency in Python and experience with working with Jupyter Framework, Google collab and cloud hosted notebooks such as AWS sagemaker, DataBricks etc.
• Proficiency in working with libraries Sklearn, Tensorflow, Open CV2, Pyspark,  Pandas, Numpy and related libraries.
• Expert in visualising and manipulating complex datasets.
• Proficiency in working with visualisation libraries such as seaborn, plotly, matplotlib etc.
• Proficiency in Linear Algebra, statistics and probability required for Machine Learning.
• Proficiency in ML Based algorithms for example, Gradient boosting, stacked Machine learning, classification algorithms and deep learning algorithms. Need to have experience in hypertuning various models and comparing the results of algorithm performance.
• Big data Technologies such as Hadoop stack and Spark. 
• Basic use of clouds (VM’s example EC2).
• Brownie points for Kubernetes and Task Queues.      
• Strong written and verbal communications.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
